April 26, 2017 Dear Seniors and Parents, is only a few weeks away. This packet is to inform you of what to expect and what to do during these final weeks of high school. Please read each section carefully and pay close attention to the calendar of events and activities. Be aware of your obligations and responsibilities. If you owe any debts (fundraisers, lost/damaged textbooks, overdue library books, sports uniforms, etc.), take care of them now. We are looking forward to a fun Senior Week, which will end in the big event: Your graduation. We are confident that we can count on your total cooperation in implementing your senior activities. In this booklet, you will find all the information which will answer many questions that are necessary for a successful Ceremony on Friday, May 26, 2017 at 7:00 P.M.. In addition to this written packet, we will be doing calling posts the entire month of May in which we will share reminders about upcoming events, information about parking, and what to expect when you arrive on campus the morning of graduation. Tips and Guidelines to follow for the Ceremony 1) Press robes thoroughly with a COOL iron. 2) Adhere to the Dress Code requirements. 3) Nothing is to be visible as part of the attire except what is provided by Herff Jones. Girls Skirt/Dress, black dress shoes (flats or wedges appropriate for walking up and down ramps and on astroturf: NO flip flops or tennis shoes; no spikey heels) Skirts and dresses should not be visible under the bottom hem of the robe. NO jewelry except class rings. Flesh colored hose (optional) Boys Black dress pants, collared white dress shirt, dark tie, black dress shoes (NO flip flops or tennis shoes) NO jewelry except class rings. Leave purse and other personal items with your parents because you will not be able to carry them with you. There is NO secure place to store personal effects during the ceremony. Please, as a personal favor to your classmates, no heavy perfume or cologne. 4) Do not wear jewelry (except class rings). Dangling earrings or large hoops are NEVER to be worn with academic regalia or any kind of robe. 5) Caps should be worn so that the pointed end fits directly between the eyebrows, two fingers widths above the eyebrows. They are never worn pushed to the side or the back of the head. Hair should be styled so that the cap will fit properly and lay flat. You are NOT permitted to decorate your cap. 6) You cannot wear anything over your robe that is not part of the official graduation apparel. You will be pulled out of the graduation line if you are not properly dressed!

Honors Night Junior/Senior Honors Night will be held on May 11 th at 6:00 P.M. in the Fine Arts building. This event is by invitation only; however, juniors and seniors may invite guests. Various awards, honors, and recognitions will be given. Cording Ceremony The Senior Cording Ceremony will be May 18 th at 6:30 P.M. in the Fine Arts building. This event is by invitation only and is for seniors and their guests only. Baccalaureate The Baccalaureate Service is at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church (1167 Angham Road Hiram, GA 30141) on May 21, 2017 at 3:00 P.M. Please wear your robes for this service. Do not bring your hat. This event is optional, but all seniors are encouraged to attend. Directions from HHS: Hiram High School 702 Ballentine Drive Hiram, GA 30141 1. Head west on Ballentine Dr toward Baywood Dr 2. Turn left onto Bill Carruth Pkwy 3. Turn right onto Angham Rd Destination will be on the left Pleasant Grove Baptist Church 0.7 mi 3.9 mi 0.3 mi Alternate Route: Hwy 278 Hiram, GA 1. Head east (from Powder Springs) or west (from Dallas) on GA-6 E/US-278 E toward Vista Lake Dr 2. Turn right onto Cleburne Pkwy 3. Continue onto Bill Carruth Pkwy 4. Turn left onto Angham Rd Destination will be on the left 0.4 mi 0.5 mi 0.3 mi Pleasant Grove Baptist Church

Final Exams Final examinations for all seniors will be given Monday, May 22 rd (4 th -7 th periods and B & C blocks) and Tuesday, May 23 th (1-3 rd periods and A block). Seniors will be released Tuesday after exams. NO permission slips are required. Anyone without transportation will report to a designated location for the remainder of the school day. These are regular school days and your attendance is required. To be certified for graduation, a senior must adhere to the following: 1) Pass all course requirements. 2) Complete all semester hour requirements and take the EOC s in required areas. 3) Pay all outstanding debts. 4) Complete ALL components of the Senior CAPSTONE project or Work Based Learning equivalent 5) Attend ALL graduation practices. Dress Code You must follow the county dress code for all activities during the week, including the senior breakfast and practices. You will not be allowed to enter the cafeteria or to participate in practice if you are dressed inappropriately and are violating dress code. Senior Week: Remember that all spiritwear/costumes MUST be school appropriate and follow dress codes. Hats may only be worn IF they are part of the costume or appropriate to the theme of the day. Students who are dressed inappropriately or out of theme will be in violation of the dress code and receive the appropriate consequence. Monday, May 15 th -- Kindergarten Day: Throw back and remember where it all began. Dress like a kindergartener. ***Senior Movie: Come enjoy The Incredibles. The doors will open at 6:00 P.M. The show will begin at 7:00 P.M. You must have paid your senior dues to gain entry. NO OUTSIDE GUESTS ARE ALLOWED. This is a HHS SEN1OR7 ONLY EVENT. Snacks and drinks will be provided; however, fresh, hot popcorn will be available for purchase ($1/bag). Tuesday, May 16 th Favorite Family Vacation: Dress as a tacky tourist or as something reminiscent of your favorite family vacation from when you were younger. (Ex: Your family went to Disney World you dress as your favorite character or the teacup ride.) Wednesday, May 17 th College/Career Day: Celebrate your college acceptance or acceptance into the military by representing your future school/branch of the armed forces OR represent your future career by dressing in the appropriate attire. Thursday, May 18 st Character Day: Dress as your favorite fictional, super hero, comic book, or cartoon character. Friday, May 19 th Senior Citizen s Day Honor your future self by dressing as you might when you are a significantly older (60 s, 70 s, 80 s +)

Senior Breakfast/Slide Show/ Meeting The senior breakfast will be held on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at 9:00 A.M. Attendance is mandatory!!! Following the breakfast, seniors will dismiss to the Fine Arts Building for the senior class slide show and a class meeting with further instructions for the week. To gain entrance to the Senior Class Breakfast and Slide Show/Meeting, you must clear all debts and obligations. The Senior Class Breakfast Form is your golden ticket into the breakfast (last page of this packet). NO ONE will be allowed to participate who has not filled out the ticket and paid/cleared all fines. Ms. Sanders, the bookkeeper, WILL NOT SIGN YOUR FORM UNTIL YOU HAVE BEEN CLEARED BY ALL TEACHERS, THE MEDIA CENTER, COACHES, ETC. Rehearsals for All graduating seniors must attend ALL rehearsals. You should report to the Cafeteria by 9:00 A.M. on Thursday and to your designated locations by 9:00 A.M. on Friday. Instructions will be given as to where to meet on Friday. Plan to stay until about 2:00 P.M. each day. Failure to attend a practice will mean not participating in the Ceremony. NO ONE will be allowed to leave practice early for any reason. Students absent from school on any day of practice will NOT be permitted to participate in the graduation ceremony unless cleared by the administration. Attendance will be taken each day and is MANDATORY. Do NOT plan on working or scheduling any appointments during rehearsal times this week! Parking For Rehearsals: Students who hold a current parking pass will continue to park in their assigned spaces. Any senior who drives on the practice days who does not have an issued parking pass will park down the hill towards the baseball field. Day: NO parking passes will be given to anyone. Please plan to arrive early or to carpool in order to ensure that you will have a place to park. NO transportation to or from the graduation ceremony will be provided. Ceremony The graduation ceremony will be held on Friday, May 27, 2017 at 7:00 P.M. at the HHS Stadium. All graduating seniors will report to the cafeteria at 5:00 P.M. and go immediately to their designated areas so that attendance can be taken and dress code requirements can be checked. Diploma Distribution You may pick up your diploma immediately after the graduation ceremony. The counselors will meet you in the media center. Only YOU, as a graduate, may pick up your diploma.

Videos/Pictures A professionally-filmed video/dvd of your graduation will be available for purchase from Jeffery Morris Videography. The video/dvd will be $25 each; blue ray will be $35. An order form is included in the packet. TC Pics will be taking photos of each graduate receiving his/her diploma. You can go to TCPICSonline.com to order your picture. Hiram High School Alma Mater The Alma Mater will be sung during the graduation ceremony. Words written by Sara Weaver Brooks.
