Capture the Dream, Inc. offers the George Geng On Lee Minorities in Leadership Scholarship to graduating high school seniors and college undergraduate students who will be enrolled full-time at accredited, not-for-profit four-year institutions in the Fall term. Each scholarship winner will receive a 1,000 scholarship to be mailed to their college or university. Eligibility Requirements: - Must be a Bay Area resident. Bay Area residence is defined as having lived in the Greater San Francisco Bay Area for the two years (24 months) preceding the application deadline. The Bay Area's nine counties are Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Solano, and Sonoma. - Must be from a low-income household. Low income is defined as having annual household income at or below 100% LLSIL. Please refer to the LLSIL guidelines for 2015 to determine your eligibility. - Must be a minority student who will be enrolled full-time at an accredited, not-for-profit four-year institution in the upcoming Fall term. - Upon selection, scholarship recipients must provide proof of annual household income, proof of enrollment, and any additional documents required within two weeks of notification to substantiate the information provided and avoid being disqualified. - Employees of Capture the Dream, Inc. and relatives of officers are NOT eligible for this program. - There is no application fee. Note: If you are selected as a finalist, a telephone or in-person interview with one or more members of Capture the Dream, Inc. s Scholarship Committee is required before 08/15/2016. Application Instructions: - Application and required materials must be postmarked on or before July 31, 2016. - All application materials, including application form, must be typed. - All application materials should be printed single sided, with no staples or paper clips. - All application materials, including official transcripts and letters of recommendation, must be submitted together in one large envelope. - Complete application based on the current academic year. - Application is not valid until ALL of the following have been completed, submitted, and received by Capture the Dream, Inc.: Minorities in Leadership Scholarship Application and Essay (1,000 words or less) Introduction Letter to Scholarship Committee summarizing qualifications Professional Resume Official Transcript Financial Aid Award Documentation (e.g. Web-Award Confirmation) Letters of Recommendation: Minimum of 1 letter from a teacher, professor, principal, supervisor, volunteer director or equivalent, in a sealed envelope with their signature placed across the seal. This letter should address the applicant s ability to set realistic goals and how he/she has achieved them; how the applicant has demonstrated academic or community leadership; an example demonstrating the applicant s will power, personal strength, and drive; and any other relevant information. If you are selected as a finalist, Capture the Dream, Inc. will contact the appropriate institution verify that the information provided is true and correct. 1. Estimate the cost of tuition, fees, books, and tuition-related expenses for the 2016-2017 school year. Exclude the cost of meals, housing, transportation and personal expenses. For verification purposes, attach a copy of your Financial Aid Award or a print out from your college's financial aid web page that details the cost of attendance for the 2016-2017 school year. 4. List the name and the amount of scholarships/grants (excluding loans) you are receiving for the 2016-2017 school year. 5. Total of scholarships/grants for the school year: 6.
