ABOUT THE SEMINAR With the emergence of globalization, Indian economy has undergone a sea change during the last two decades. There has been a dynamic transformation in the field of Accounting, Banking & Finance not only within the existing domains but also has witnessed extensions outside its realms of activity. In this context, the Department of Commerce, BVC in association with The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) Hyderabad Chapter considers it as a privilege to organize a one day National Seminar on Changing Contours and Contemporary Issues in Accounting, Banking & Insurance and Finance on 13 th September 2013. The seminar will focus on the analyzing and fathoming out the emerging trends in Accounting, Banking & Insurance and Finance fields and their implications for the sustainable development of the firms in India. OBJECTIVE:- The objective of the seminar is to provide a platform for interaction on issues relating to Emerging trends in Accounting, Banking & Insurance and Finance, besides providing valuable inputs for research. GUIDELINES FOR THE SUBMISSION OF ABSTRACT AND FULL PAPER Papers and presentations which address the broad theme of the seminar and related areas are solicited from researchers, academicians, students, executives and practicing managers from the industry. One soft copy in word format of the abstract will have to be submitted to the seminar convener by 30 th June, 2013. Over a period of time, the Bhavan has grown into a secular, apolitical, cultural and educational organization. It has around 395 constituent institutions,122 centres in India and 8 centres overseas with the sole objective of rejuvenating eternal Indian values, lost in the Desert of modern technological progress. Bhavan s Vivekananda College of Science, Humanities and Commerce, Sainikpuri, Secunderabad was established in 1993, under the aegis of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Mumbai. Today, 20 years later, it has become a microcosm of academic activity. With 12 UG and 4 PG courses, the college has strength of 3018 students. It provides quality holistic education for the all round development of the students. It stands high among premier institutions in Andhra Pradesh. Ever growing, reaching out to higher realms of achievement, fed by the trust placed in it by all its stake holders, Bhavan s moves forward. The college is recognized by UGC u/s 2(f) and u/s 12(b) and also being accredited with A grade by NAAC.The College has 4 UGC funded research activities undertaken by Post Doctoral Research Scholars. DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE The Department of Commerce was established in the year 1993 at Bhavan s Vivekananda College of Science, Humanities and Commerce. It has imbibed the traditions and values of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan in exploring the new frontiers of knowledge and innovations in academics. It was established with an aim to impart quality education and develop skills in the students to meet corporate requirements. Initially it started with one B.Com section, two faculty members, 43 students and has steadily grown to 21 sections of B.Com ( Regulars, Computers and Honors), 26 faculty members, and 1285 students. The students have brought laurels to the department by securing gold medals at the University. The credit goes to its team of dedicated and highly experienced faculty members and the hard working and industrious students. The faculty is actively engaged in presenting papers in national and international conferences and publishing books. The department has a track record of providing placements to around 70% of the students in various reputed companies. The Institute of Chartered Accountants Of India The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) is a statutory body established under the Chartered Accountants Act, 1949 (Act No. XXXVIII of 1949) for the regulation of the profession of chartered accountancy in India. During its more than fifty years of existence, the Institute has achieved recognition as a premier accounting body in the country for its contribution in the fields of education, professional development, maintenance of high accounting, auditing and ethical standards.
