W e are proud to share news of our alumni, students, and dedicated faculty with you each year. Please note the diverse careers our graduates enjoy and the numerous awards our alumni receive. We are so proud of your success and appreciate your dedication to your alma mater. We appreciate all of you who responded to our request for your business cards! Alumni News Amber Runsick, MS, RD (MS 2009, BS 2007) is the new Family and Consumer Sciences Agent in Baxter County. Pamela Pruett (BSE, 1980) recently became the County Extension Agent in Mississippi County. Pamela completed her Master of Arts Degree in Counseling (1991) from Liberty University, Lynchburg, VA and is currently enrolled in Doctorate of Education, Ed.D. with emphasis in Higher Ed. at Union University, Jackson, TN.. Pamela received the Distinguished Alumni Award in 2010. Debra Goldman, RD (BS, 1986) is the owner of the Tastesetter Eatery in Pine Bluff, a 70-seat full-service restaurant specializing in healthy dining and catering. Heather Estetter (BS, 2012) is the Assistant Coach for Women s Cross Country at the University of West Georgia. Lisa Terry (BSE, 1989), is currently working on her MSE at Montana State University where she is employed as the Stillwater County Extension Agent. Sloane (Dunklin) Holzhauer (BS, 2011) is the new Family and Consumer Science Agent in Poinsette County. Feather (Braswell) Linn (BSE, 2000) has written two novels: Zu-Re, a young adult novel and Pickle Juice and Football, a contemporary romance. Rebekah Lindsey (center) received the student teacher of the semester award in the spring from FACS faculty Linda Brown (left). Her mentor teacher was Susan Baker (right) from Greenbrier High School. Faculty and Staff UCA was well represented at the National Conference for the American Association of Family & Consumer Sciences (AAFCS). In attendance at the conference, held in Indianapolis, were (left to right below) Dr. Renee Ryburn, Dr. Mary Ann Campbell, Dr. Mary Harlan, Dr. Pam Bennett, and Dr. Nina Roofe. UCA faculty were selected to serve as presenters in five educational sessions. Dr. Harlan also represented the state of Arkansas as a voting delegate in the senate. Dr. Mary Harlan (pictured above) recently received the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (AAFCS) Leaders Award. This prestigious national award was presented to Mary at the 2012 AAFCS Pacesetter Dinner held in conjunction with the annual conference in Indianapolis, Indiana. The Leaders Award was established to identify and honor family and consumer sciences professionals who have made significant contributions to the field through their involvement with AAFCS. Dr. Harlan was nominated by the Arkansas Affiliate of AAFCS and received the state award in 2011.
