No pplictions for pprovl of mterils options were reviewed in. The committee completed revision of "ACS Guidelines & Evlution Procedures for Undergrdute Professionl Eduction in Chemistry" to incorporte requirements for certifiction of students with degree in chemistry with n emphsis in biochemistry, chemicl physics, chemistry eduction, mterils, or polymers. The guidelines include revised sttement on librry requirements for ACS pprovl. The committee lso updted the list of recommended journls for ACS-pproved progrms. Both the guidelines booklet nd the journls list my be obtined from Cthy A. Nelson, Mnger, Office of Professionl Trining, ACS, th St., N.W., Wshington, D.C.. From necdotl informtion, the committee lerned tht severl schools re experiencing turnround in enrollments in freshmn nd sophomore chemistry courses. The committee completed survey of ACS-pproved schools to determine if this trend is widespred, nd if so, the size of the increses.
