Scheme details How do the schemes work? The Sword of Honour and Globe of Honour schemes are open to all organisations who achieve a fivestar outcome in their site-specific Five Star audits. Up to 40% of applicants scores will be determined by their performance in their respective Five Star Audits and the remaining 60% on the basis of their written application. The written application comprises one question set in four component parts, with up to 750 words expected per component. Applicants will need to respond consistently across all sections. There are certain mandatory requirements within this criteria which are detailed in the Guidance for applicants documents and include meeting a minimum threshold of 75% for this part of the assessment. The questions are aligned with components of the Five Star Audit specification model and the focus of these questions changes each year to assess different aspects of health and safety and environmental management systems and best practice. This keeps the scheme both challenging and dynamic. All applications are site specific. How are marks from the audit outcome credited to the award score? To achieve a five-star outcome from their audit, an organisation must currently score between 92% and 100% in the audit process. Depending on percentage achieved in the audit, the applicant will be credited with up to a maximum of 40% of marks that will be carried over to the overall Sword or Globe result. The written application will contribute up to a maximum of 60% of the overall Sword or Globe score. The guidance notes for applicants detail the scoring mechanism and should be read in detail when completing the application. Application process When will I receive the application form, marking scheme and guidance notes?
