This group will be meeting at the senior center on the fourth Monday of each month from 2:15 to 3:15 p.m. and will be facilitated by Kristin Heuwold. Kristin has been trained by the Alzheimer s Association as a support group leader. Meetings can be more of an educational nature or provide members with a forum to discuss current concerns and resources for support. This will vary from month to month as the needs of the group change. The first meeting will be on Monday, June 26 th. If you are interested in attending, please sign up in advance by calling the senior center at 508-543-1234. LAUGHTER WORKSHOP Have you ever felt better after having a good laugh? Join us at the senior center for our new 5-week Laughter Workshop, led by David Lesky Lescoe, Certified Laughter Yoga Instructor. This program is free and it will be held from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. on the following Thursdays: July 6 & 13, and August 3, 10 & 17. Laughter improves your mood! It causes the release of endorphins, which stimulate feelings of caring and forgiveness as well as acting as a natural painkiller. It has been scientifically proven that laughter has beneficial health effects. It boosts the immune system by increasing levels of anti-viral and anti-infection cells, and it provides an excellent cardio and mid-body workout. Each session starts with a gentle warm-up, then laughter is simulated as a physical exercise. If you d like to take part in our laughter workshops, please call the senior center at 508-543-1234 to sign up in advance. Wear comfortable clothing and bring a willingness to feel better! QI GONG AND MEDITATION/RELAXATION CLASSES Join us this summer as we learn the ancient healing practice of Qigong. Qigong and Meditation/Relaxation Classes will be held at the senior center from 5 to 6 p.m. on the following Wednesday afternoons: July 12 & 19 and August 9, 16 & 30. Many of us are so busy with our daily routines that we forget to take some time out for ourselves. This is your chance! Qigong is a form of gentle exercise composed of movements that work with the meridian energy pathways of the body to enhance the flow of energy (Qi). The practice of Qigong typically involves moving meditation, slow flowing movements, deep rhythmic breathing and a calm state of mind. These classes will be led by instructor Jeanne Donnelly who has been teaching various forms of exercise for close to 40 years. There is a $2 charge for each class. If you d like to join us for this opportunity to learn gentle healing Qigong exercises followed by healing meditation, please call the senior center at 508-543-1234 to sign up in advance. Starting in June, the senior center will be offering weekly Meditation and Relaxation classes on Wednesday mornings at 10:30 a.m. These classes will be led by Chair Yoga instructor Michelle Lawlor. The goal of meditation is to go beyond the mind and experience our essential nature which is described as peace, happiness and bliss. Meditation is about training your brain to bring your thoughts and

feelings into awareness. It s about examining who you are and it teaches you to appreciate every moment for what it is.
