THIRTIETH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME CARROLL HIGH SCHOOL S ACTION APPALACHIA Action Appalachia is an annual service program, formed by Carroll High School s seniors, to provide aid for the Campton Center in Kentucky. This year s seniors are collecting clothing for infants, children, and women, as well as for mens and teens; gently used toys as well as brand new toys for Christmas gifts. These donations are vital to the community of Campton, which has no relief organizations such as Salvation Army or Goodwill to meet its needs. There is also great need for canned soups and canned meats-such as soups, cereal, tuna, peanut butter, and Vienna sausage. Please bring your donations to the Carroll High School loading dock (located on the west side of the building). Questions contact Mrs. Cathy Jackson or send an email to cjackson@carrollhs.org. The deadline for all donations is Friday, November 10th. Thank you for your support for this most needy project! WE HAVE A NEW MINISTER-FRIENDLY SCHEDULING SYSTEM! Eucharistic Ministers, Lectors, Servers, and parents of them, we will be launching a new scheduling system. Ministry Scheduler Pro, this month. The current schedule runs through November, and a new one will be generated via MSP that will cover December through February. With the new system, you can log on (plus an app is available!) and enter dates that you are unavailable, request subs, and see all of your scheduled Masses at once! Over the next few months, we will hold short training sessions on how to use MSP to your greatest advantage! Watch the bulletin, check for emails, and listen for phone calls for future training session dates and times! The first two short training sessions will be held on Tuesday, November 7 and Thursday, November 16, both beginning at 7 pm, in the Smith Building. Call the parish office or email Mary mary.heider@sthelenparish.org or Lisa lisa.saunders@sthelenparish.org to let us know you are coming. WORLD COMMUNITY DAY PRAYER SERVICE It is absolutely clear that ecumenism, the movement promoting Christian unity, is not just some sort of appendix which is added to the Church s traditional activity. Rather, ecumenism is an organic part of her life and work, and consequently must pervade all that she is and does. Pope John Paul II in Ut Unum Sint, 25 May 1995. Join Church Women United to celebrate Christian unity at World Community Day Prayer Service on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Memorial Presbyterian Church, 1541 Smithville Rd. The theme is Kindling New Fires of Peace. Contact Kathy Zamonski for details at wonderlywoman@gmail.com or call 937-304-1511. CATHOLIC-SPONSORED DIVORCECARE The holidays can be a lonely, stressful, and depressing time if you are separated or divorced. However, there s hope! Join us for an encouraging seminar to discover how to enjoy the holidays again. Sunday, Nov. 12; 1:00 2:30 PM in the St. John Bosco Room of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 6245 Wilmington Pike, Centerville, OH. For more information, call Marcelle Toma at (937) 312-1157 or mtoma@woh.rr.com CHOOSING HOPE Choosing Hope, the coalition of area Catholics responding to the drug crisis, will meet on Monday, October 30, 7-8:15pm at St Luke Church s Kramer Hall in Beavercreek to determine how to proceed with three identified needs that surfaced in our initial gathering. These included: the pressing need of children left orphaned; a growing need to provide dignified burial for unclaimed individuals who have overdosed; and the necessity to undergird police/first responders with prayer (Adopt-a-Hero). Why get involved? Because Catholics pray, bury the dead, and take care of the orphan. It s what Catholics do. It s time for the drug crisis to meet the power of Christ in His Church. YOU are the Church. How will you act? For more info, contact Glenda Canfield at 937-654-2559 or glenda.canfield@gmail.com. ALTER HIGH SCHOOL OPEN HOUSE Alter High School will host an Open House on Sunday, November 12 from 1-4 PM. Please come and visit the Alter Campus and see all we have to offer.
