Prime Recipient 073709883 B-09-UY-45-0005 Final Report revitalization. $79,569 will be leveraged with other funding sources (CDBG, NSP-1, HOME Match and program income) to construct 3-4 single family homes and acquire and rehabilitate 1 forclosed property. This project will have a great impact on the community: it will provide affordable homeownership opportunities for low to moderate income families; it will remove abandonded and unkempt vacant lots which previously occupied a dwelling and now pose a threat to the communities property value and safety and also the project will help to remove the stigma of being an undesirable community to live. Participants participated in several personal and career development activities and workshops. In January youth program participants were involved in a Day of Service in commemoration of Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. The day of service involved cleaning several hiking trails in the community; in February participants engaged in classroom discussion about the Civil Rights Movement as well as work ethics and summer employment opportunities. Also during this quarter The infill housing project to build homes on vacant lots is underway and working simutaniously through other activities to replace homes that have been demolished over the years. This quarter two parcels were purchased and will be the location for single family new construction. Improvement of housing stock in Ridgewood will have a positive impact on property values and will provide decent, safe and affordable housing in the neighborhood. Last quarter we reported that the infrastructure project was completed.
