POOL CONCESSION STAND 2018 The City of Slater is accepting applications to run the concession stand at the pool for 2018. Chosen applicant will: pay the city a minimum of $750 rent due in installment payments. will NOT be a city employee, but will contract lease the space from the city. apply and pay for necessary permits and sales tax. hire, manage and pay their own staff staffing must be adequate to handle demand. buy all supplies and keep all money from sales. be open for all high school and Nite Hawks baseball games as well as all open swim pool hours and swim team events. May be open for little league if desired. (swim lessons and pool parties not required) To apply: serve the concession stands minimum required menu - additional items are certainly welcome. you must be 18 years of age. you must submit a letter of interest to the city outlining a sample menu, bid amount and any qualifications, related work history and 3 references. Soup and Sound Lunch Join us on Friday, March 2 for an introduction to Japanese Taiko by Tanis Sotelo. All ages are invited to experience Japanese culture through the Art of Taiko. Taiko drums are traditional Japanese instruments used in festivals and musical performances around the world. Learn about the different styles of Taiko drumming, and how the drums are used in popular festivals in Japan and the US. A free-will lunch will be served starting at 11:30 a.m. with the program starting at noon. On April 6 author Craig Bishop will discuss the remarkable life of famous baseball player and Iowa native, Billy Sunday. The Book and Bake Sale will run from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday and then continue Monday through Wednesday during regular library hours. Book Club For March the book club will read the Agatha Christie Classic Murder on the Orient Express followed by the viewing of the new movie.
