HOW TO PLAN YOUR TRIP TO CAMP THIS SUMMER q Confirm that you re looking at this list right now. Go ahead and check off that you have it. It feels good to get things accomplished doesn t it? q Make sure that you have the camp dates on the church calendar. Youth camp is July 16-20, 2018. Camp begins with registration at 1:00 pm on Monday and ends at 11:00 am on Friday. q Reserve the vans, buses, etc. that you will need for bringing students to camp. q Hang the promotional posters. Download and print out brochures and registration forms. You may want to do an email to each family. Include the documents as attachments and put a link to our webpage at openbiblecentral.org/youth-camp. q Begin regularly announcing and promoting camp. Use your church bulletin, newsletter, announcement times, pre-service slides, and anything else you can imagine. q Pass out copies of the staff application forms to those interested in working at camp. q Registrations and camp payment should be collected by you and sent to the regional office. Have the parents write checks directly to your church and then send a single check to the region for the total amount, including staff. o Registration deadline - We need to have registration forms received at the regional office no later than Monday, July 2 at noon. o Late Registration - If forms are received after July 2, that camper will be required to pay a $30 late registration fee and may not receive a camp T-shirt. o Refunds are not provided on individual camp registrations but name changes for the same age group (middle school or high school) and gender are allowed up until July 13 at noon. o No registrations will be accepted after July 13 at noon. This includes campers and dorm staff. q Remember - we need you to provide at least one (1) staff for every ten students you send to camp. If you have ten male students, send one male staff. If you have ten female students, send one female staff. We fill our staff positions as early as possible and once we have reached our limit, we are done. Staff should apply early to ensure you have someone from your church with your students. q Bring the appropriate funds to pay your group s balance in full at the time you register for camp.

If you possess any of these items, you have the opportunity to turn them in immediately following camper orientation. If they are found later it will be cause for immediate dismissal from camp. Also, campers should not bring valuables such as laptops or ipads. Dress Code. Everyone must wear shoes when walking on the grounds. Guys Shirts must be worn at all times, except in the pool or at the lake and if you are a skin for basketball. Your shorts need to stay up around your waist. For swimming, guys must wear swim trunks that stay up, no speedos and no cut offs. Ladies Your shirt and pants should touch. Your shorts or skirts should be at least midthigh. For swimming, ladies must wear modest one-piece suits. If you have a two-piece, you must wear a t-shirt over it. Staying in dorms at night (not sneaking out). We are on a public campus in the city of Pella. Our desire to protect students and provide the safest possible environment has required some changes in this policy compared to previous years. All doors on campus buildings are on timed, magnetic locks that will not allow anyone to enter the building after hours unless they have a keycard. Additionally, Central College has security patrolling the exterior of buildings at all times during the night along with surveillance cameras. Anyone found outside of their dorm building after hours will immediately forfeit the remainder of his or her camp experience. No warnings. No exceptions. No refunds. Social Skills. Fighting or verbally abusing anyone, camper or staff, is not permitted. Public displays of affection are not allowed during camp. Mobile Phone Policy. As Youth Camp is on a large college campus in Pella, mobile phones may be brought to camp by students. Campers and leaders should share their cell numbers with each other. If a camper brings a phone, they are responsible for any loss or damage. As Camp is a getaway experience, use of mobile phones is limited to free times during the day and meal times. Mobile phones shall not be used during chapel times unless directed by the speaker, and shall not be used after lights-out time in the dorms. Phones will be collected each evening by the leaders and charged overnight in the leader s rooms. Abuse of phones will result in phone being secured by camp staff until the end of camp. Parents should avoid calling or texting their campers. Use the brain God gave you. When you make decisions during camp week, use common sense and treat other people, and these grounds the way you would want to be treated.
