Hokie Camp Do I have to attend? Yes, Hokie Camp attendance is required and an integral part of Summer Academy. Refunds will not be available for those not attending. What is Hokie Camp? Hokie Camp is a three-day extended orientation experience that takes place at the W.E. Skelton 4-H Educational Conference Center at Smith Mountain Lake ( http://www.skelton4hcenter.org ), located just minutes from Roanoke, Virginia. It is located in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains and nestled neatly along the shores of Smith Mountain Lake. Students will ride buses from the Virginia Tech campus to the conference center where they will stay in air-conditioned, furnished cabins. New Hokies will participate in numerous activities after being split into assigned groups. Those groups are split into smaller building groups, or BGs for short, led by an upperclass Hokie Camp counselor. These groups form strong bonds by participating in activities together and learning about Virginia Tech traditions. Why attend Hokie Camp? Hokie Camp is an integral part of Summer Academy. It is a time for students to have fun, make friends, and learn more about life at Virginia Tech. Through Hokie Camp, new students will begin finding their place in the Hokie family before classes even begin! When is Hokie Camp? July 7 9, 2017 What to bring to Hokie Camp? Bring with you enough clothing for 3 days (shorts, T-shirts, jeans, swimsuit, etc.) You may want to bring your pillow and a blanket. Don t forget your soap, lotion, sunscreen, and other personal items. How much is Hokie Camp? Hokie Camp costs $240. This price covers bus travel to and from Virginia Tech to Hokie Camp, all meals and lodging at the W. E. Skelton 4-H Educational Conference Center, a Hokie Camp T-shirt, and water bottle. The Hokie Camp fee will be reflected in the Summer Academy invoice. How do I sign up? Hokie Camp registration is automatic when you register for Summer Academy! 7
