EMHS Clinical Informatics Presents Introduction to Technology in the Penobscot Pavilion
CAREAWARE ROOMLINK
What is RoomLink? Digital sign that replaces the paper signs and notices used in other areas to communicate to caregivers about patients needs. The device is right outside the patient s room. Easily view safety information, such allergies and precautions (fall risk, NPO status, and so on) here. RoomLink will be used on EMMC s Penobscot Pavilion inpatient units.
RoomLink Device Basics When a patient is registered to a bed, white lights on the sides of the corresponding RoomLink device will come on.
Introduction to RoomLink Please be sure to always check the device before entering a patient room. This is important, as other visual cues (such as the isolation carts and paper signs) will not be present.

CAREAWARE CONNECT
What is CareAware Connect? Nursing staff in the Penobscot Pavilion will carry special mobile devices that tie into the nurse call, physiologic monitoring, and electronic medical record systems. The phones will have two applications on them. CareAware Connect: Communication (calling, texting) Alerts (nurse call, physiologic monitor) Connect Inpatient: Assigned patients Parts of the electronic medical record Care Team
What is CareAware Connect? Both applications use an android mobile device over hospital WIFI. (They will not work outside the hospital.) The CarePhone mobile devices will be used by nurses and nursing support staff in EMMC s Penobscot Pavilion. Certain providers will also have the opportunity to install an application on their personal devices. This app allows them to secure text with nursing staff. You may hear this referred to as a BYOD or Bring Your Own Device application.
Care & Storage The CarePhones will be stored in special charging cabinets on the nursing units. The CarePhones can be cleaned with bleach or hydrogen peroxide wipes.
