ZHS Drama presents A Few Good Men, 7:00 p.m. @ VPAC ZHS Volleyball @ State Tournament Ms. Atkinson co-hosted a webinar, with EdCorps founder Grant Knowles, about the power of "shipping" (putting ideas out and making connections) with EdCorps. She highlighted The Upstander Brand's success over the past year and shared how to make connections with others and within the curriculum. Mrs. Hardesty s class enjoyed Buster Brown Day at the Greater Baton Rouge State Fair. Congratulations to the Zachary High School BASS Fishing Team! Six of the ZHS teams made it through the first qualifier with two teams finishing in the top twenty. Creed David and Colby Latino placed 15th with a team weight of 9.29 pounds. Justiss Patin and Jude Charlet placed 20th with a team weight of 8.88 pounds. Congratulations to Creed David, Colby Latino, Justiss Patin, and Jude Charlet for qualifying for state. Congratulations to the entire BASS Fishing Team and their sponsors Mrs. Melissa Brumbaugh and Mrs. Terin Patin on a great season.

Zachary High School Geometry students recently incorporated pumpkins into their lessons with a Pumpkin Chunking Contest. Pumpkins were launched using a catapult, centrifugal, pneumatic cannon or trebuchet. Students investigated the math and physics involved in the path of the projectile launched from the catapult and discovered it is a quadratic function. Students then engineered their own miniature catapults out of popsicle sticks, rubber bands and plastic spoons. Zachary High School s Student Government Association recently held a volleyball tournament to collect canned goods for the Zachary Food Pantry. Faculty and students both participated with the ZHS Administrative team coming out on top. The next event will be an Ultimate Frisbee tournament on Thursday, November 30, 2017.
s Eighth grade art students at Northwestern Middle school recently took a trip to Midnight Productions. Students witnessed first-hand artists making props, construction scenes, and decorating a haunted house. Students were able to ask questions about the artists daily jobs and how to pursue an art career following graduation. Congratulations to Zachary High School Honor Student Alexandra Barfield! Principal Tim Jordan and Assistant Principal Erica Henry presented her with a certificate from the National Academy of Future Physicians and Medical Scientists for the excellence she has displayed in academics and leadership.
