PRINCIPAL S SECONDARY SCHOLARSHIPS (YEAR 7-12) Objectives of the Scholarship 1. To promote excellence in Christian education among secondary students of the College; 2. To provide an opportunity for high-achieving students who might otherwise financially find themselves unable to pursue their studies in a Christian College; Eligibility Both new and existing students who exhibit outstanding attributes in any of the following areas: academic, cultural/aesthetic and sport which will enable them to make an outstanding contribution to the life of the College. The Scholarship Award 1. We have a limited number of full and partial scholarships available for 2019 which are awarded annually to applicants who meet the selection criteria. 2. Each Scholarship is equivalent to the value of a year of school fees (FULL) or part thereof (PARTIAL) annually, which is deducted from the annual school fees charged to the student. 3. Scholarships cover tuition fees only and parents are responsible for the Association fee Text Books Uniform Costs Insurance Secondary School Levies 4. Should a child who is awarded a Scholarship withdraw or terminates his/her enrolment at the College, the Scholarship is not redeemable for cash, and is not transferable to another student or sibling at the College. It is also not transferable to other schools within or outside Western Australia. 5. Students who have been successful in being granted a Scholarship in a particular year and who wish to continue their study the following year at the College need not reapply for the Scholarship. However, the scholarships will be reviewed annually subject to: Good conduct Satisfactory progress Regular and punctual attendance Participation in School activities as required by the type of Scholarship awarded. Selection Criteria 1. Students who excel in various fields of endeavour, especially in the following areas: academic, cultural/aesthetic and sport. 2. Students who can demonstrate that they make an outstanding contribution to the life of the College. 3. It is preferable that applicants have special skills or abilities that will contribute to and complement the College s educational or cultural or sporting programs. Such examples include evidence of exemplary academic performance, participating in music and literary competitions, playing a sport at a high level. Application Procedure 1. All applications received must include: All sections of the Application Form completed and returned; Documentation supporting the applicant s academic, sporting or cultural / aesthetic achievements; Two most recent School Reports; Birth Certificate or current Passport (not required for current Kingsway Christian College students); Advice of any special needs. 2.
