This conference is dedicated to promoting education and training, increasing performance and fostering communication among waterworks operations, maintenance, and management personnel. Attendance is recommended for waterworks operators of both small and large groundwater and surface water systems. You also don't want to miss out on the Top Ops competition this year. Early registration ends April 25. Top Ops Competition Changes! During the Plant Operations Conference, a competition is conducted to find the Top Operators in Virginia to represent the Virginia Section at the AWWA Annual Conference and Exposition (ACE). We have made several changes to align the competition with the National AWWA Top Ops Competition. The competition will continue to consist of questions related to water treatment. Many of the competition features will remain the same, but there are some key changes! These include: Elimination of the ring-in to answer button system. Each team will now use a small ring in bell with a button on top to signal they have completed an answer. Each team will be equipped with a small dry erase board and markers. Answers will be written on the whiteboard. 2
While the question format will remain the same, the new format will now include math questions that are similar to those on the operator s exam. Each team will be provided with a calculator and will show their answer on the whiteboard. Teams will continue to consist of 1-3 licensed operators who will compete for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place trophies. So get your team together and match wits with your fellow operators! Financial assistance ($1000/team member) is offered by the Virginia Section for the team to compete at ACE the following year.
