Last week he won over the crowd and the judges with Queen s popular hits We Will Rock You and We are the Champions. That was the best performance for me since you've been on this show, Randy Jackson, American Idol judge said. Paula Abdul said last week s performance was Johns shining moment. Athletic Trainers Month Winds Up Today Honors Day April 16 Students that have excelled academically will be recognized at the 2008 Honors Day Ceremony on April 16 at 11 a.m. in Gressette Gym. Students with more than 15 hours at ABAC and a Regents' GPA of more than 3.2 have been sent letters inviting them to participate in this ceremony. Classes and labs will be dismissed at 10:30 a.m. and resume at 2 p.m. for the purpose of allowing those invited Honor, Superior Honor and Distinguished Honor students to participate in this ceremony. Everyone is encouraged to attend this occasion as the college publicly recognizes its best students. Governor Sonny Perdue and local government officials declared March Athletic Trainers Month. The theme for this year s program is Who is Taking Care of Your Kids? Athletic trainers try and raise public awareness of rising health concerns while promoting their profession. Public service announcements are sent out throughout the month on topics such as proper hydration, proper care for sprains and wounds, school AED machines, and environmental issues. We take this time to educate and raise awareness in hopes of preventing injury and illness, Donna Sledge, ABAC Physical Education instructor, said. Other events that took place during March included injury clinics taught by Athletic Trainers throughout the state. Sledge took her ABAC CPR class to G.O. Bailey Elementary School to teach a class. In honor of Athletic Trainers month, Sledge will be offering an Athletic Trainers class through ABAC Public Service and Business Outreach. The class will be July 21-24. For more information on the class contact ABAC PSBO at 229-391-5070. As a Certified Athletic Trainer Licensed in the State of Georgia, I am pleased to begin the next 100 years of ABAC by offering an entry point to aspiring Student Athletic Trainers, said Sledge.
