ST. CLAIR TOWNSHIP SPRING 2018 NEWSLETTER FROM THE SUPERVISOR CONTACT US St. Clair Township 1539 S. Bartlett Road St. Clair, MI 48079 (810)329-9042 (810)329-1198 fax www.stclairtwp.org Township Officials Mike Boulier, Supervisor Joyce Skonieczny, Clerk Robin Hanrahan, Treasurer Diane Mollan, Trustee Dale Kays, Trustee Gary Hovis, Trustee Brenda Boeck, Trustee Office Hours: 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday PH: (810)329-9042 Fax: (810)329-1198 After Hours DPW: (810)650-1921 (810)329-2469 In mid January, St. Clair Township was notified that its application for a $75,000 grant from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources was successful. There was 75 applicants and we were one of the 22 that were approved. The Township will provide $25,000 in matching funds for a total project cost of approximately $100,000. The grant will provide funding for improvements to the Township s Fred Meiselbach Park on Neuman Road near Pine River. (Where many of our recreation events are held). The proposed improvements include new playground equipment of Universal Access Design and recycled materials; solar-powered LED lighting; and a 500 foot asphalt pathway that will provide barrier-free access to the playground equipment and other park amenities. The pathway is intended to be the first part of an exercise circle that will eventually encircle the park and provide overlooks of the Pine River in the forested area of the Park. Recreation Passport Grants are funded through the sale of Michigan s Recreation Passport for entry into Michigan State Parks, recreation areas and state-administered boating access sites. We expect improvements to start later this year. Pictures will be posted on our website of the progress. This year we will be focusing on the North and South roads for gravel. Not all roads will receive gravel. Roads receiving gravel will be determined by the Township and the Road Commission District Supervisor. East and west roads will receive emergency work as needed.
