This required several trips to the field per week in dry conditions. Electronic tension meters and affordable wireless data transfer systems are now making tension meters a practical tool to help producers make irrigation decisions, but it is important to know at what depth in the soil a particular soil tension cab be used to trigger an irrigation. This project will concentrate on the Mississippi River Hills and Ozark Heritage regions of southern Missouri. It will seek to lower business costs and increase sales revenues through network development and resource sharing. The project will also focus on keeping more youth in the area by introducing them to self-employment and business development opportunities, matching them with mentors and negotiating start-up capital.
