DAY 1 REFLECTION: Why is Vincentian Marian Youth meaningful to you? What type of various service or formation activities have you done with your group? What are you hoping to gain from the Vincentian Youth Leadership Program? What are your hopes or fears taking on this leadership position with the Vincentian Marian Youth? JOURNAL:
DAY 2 REFLECTION: What was the mission of our Vincentian Founders? What can you do to continue the Vincentian spirit individually and/or as a group? After learning about the leadership styles of the Vincentian Founders, what is one style that you can relate to and see yourself following as an example? Describe 3 ways you can be a role model to other VMY Members? What is one thing you learned or found interesting today? JOURNAL:
DAY 3 REFLECTION: Today is the Feast Day of the Vincentian Marian Youth. In 1830, the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to St. Catherine Labouré wanting a youth association to be founded. Over 185 years later, you are part of a worldwide association with its strong devotion to the Blessed Mother that continues the Vincentian Charism to serve the poor. What does the connection of the Blessed Mother and VMY mean to you especially today? St. Vincent de Paul said, We should assist the poor in every way and do it both by ourselves and by enlisting the help of others To do this is to preach the gospel by words and work. How can we continue the mission to lead like Vincent? What is one thing you learned or found interesting today? JOURNAL:
DAY 4 REFLECTION: What have you learned that will help you as a Youth Leader for the Vincentian Marian Youth? Who are your supporters and cheerleaders as you work on this project? How will you apply what you gained from this experience to the Vincentian Marian Youth group, school, parish and/or community? JOURNAL:
Prayer: Blessing of Vincentian Hands God Almighty and Father of the Poor, I pray that you would bless the hands of these Vincentians that they will always be dedicated to bringing help, encouragement, and wholeness to everyone they touch. Bless these Vincentians with your healing touch that their touch will be your touch. Grant that through this blessing they will be ready to dirty their hands in favor of the poor, their masters. Clothe them with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience; and give them wisdom for many tasks that these hands will be required to perform. Make these Vincentians worthy heirs of the charism you have entrusted to Vincent and Louise, Elizabeth and Frederick. All blessings and honor to you, our dear Lord, now and forever. Amen. Vincentian Marian Youth Prayer Lord Jesus, We come to you with Mary Immaculate. You, the friend of the little ones and of the poor, we praise you. You care for each of us with so much love! Teach us to LIVE TOGETHER with the dynamism of your Spirit, who draws us to a way of life filled with wonder, truth, and action. Enable us to LOOK AT others with the eyes of the heart, so as to recognize the wonders that you work in them, especially in the underprivileged. Help us to BUILD a world of brothers and sisters where no one is marginalized. Grant us to act not in a spirit of power and domination, but in humble spirit of service.
