Registered Apprenticeship A Workforce Strategy to Consider Unique combination of structured learning and hands-on learning from an assigned mentor Excellent method to transfer skills and knowledge from retiring to emerging workers Enhanced retention incorporating How and Why Increased productivity, safety, troubleshooting Customized training for your specific company needs Consistent training = improved productivity, safety, quality Military skills can be credited toward OJT and Instruction Employees obtain improved skills and confidence, receive nationally recognized credential, can result in community college credit toward associate degree 8

Veterans in Northern Virginia Northern Virginia veterans make up nearly 20% of the total veteran population in Virginia. 11,200 are veterans of Afghanistan and Iraq campaigns. Prince William and Fairfax Counties have higher percentages of residents who are veterans than the U.S. on average. (U.S. Census Bureau, 2010) 35
