Lego Machines Lego Machines (Ages 6-8) - $153 Amazing weeks full of fun! More advanced level of construction and programming based on age group. Kids will learn basic static structures used in robotics by applying the fundamentals of math and science concepts while building and programing their robots. They will enjoy playing and learning how pneumatics work, using sensors and motors. Children will design and assemble robots and programmable machines using specialized software. Campers will compete with their robots in mini team competitions and demonstrate their projects in a Show & Tell to their parents and friends. Limited space available! No activities July 4. Robotics Robotics Camp (Ages 14-18) Sponsored by the STEM EngInE Grant to Student Success. Funded by the U.S. Department of Education. During the three-week long Robotics Camp, students will learn to assemble and program NXT Lego Robots by using National Instruments LabView programming. Additionally, MDCPS and MDC North STEM faculty members will teach students how to program Arduino circuit boards and use SolidWorks 3D modeling software in addition to providing exposure to 3D printing. At the end of the camp, the students will participate in an exciting 2-day Robotics Challenge where they will compete in teams for first, second, and third place prizes. Limited to 50 students. From idea sketching, to computer modeling, to digital fabrication and assembly, students will learn how to make a design come to life. Join the makers movement with this unique STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, mathematics) educational experience at MDC! Lunch and snacks included. Fit Right In! Fit Right In! (Ages 11-15) - $225 Explore a variety of artistic media to increase creative talent and artistic skills. Students will work with clay, charcoal, pencil and watercolor. At the end of the camp, students will exhibit their best works in a juried exhibition. No activities July 4. Lunch and snacks included. Look great! Feel full of energy! Get in shape for fall sports! Campers learn how making the right food choices and deciding on a simple exercise regime can impact body image and health. At the Green Urban Living Center campers grow their own edible crops and make simple, delicious dishes that are proven to contribute to overall health and appearance. A fun, varied exercise regime using campus facilities leads to an understanding of how nutrition and exercise together can prevent weight gain and keep pre-teens and teens in great physical shape.
