As a member of the interdependent team led by a designated RN, is accountable to perform patient care duties and activities for a group of patients. Major Responsibilities: A. Demonstrates commitment to the universal guiding principles of the patient care model in order to achieve the HealthEast Nursing Vision 1. Contributes to the achievement of patient and unit outcomes (Safety, cost, quality, satisfaction, engagement) by working collaboratively with inter and intradepartmental teams 2. Performs other related duties within defined role, to meet patient, unit, and organizational needs B. Supports the Nursing Process to achieve outcome focused patient care 1. Observes and collects data to contribute to the assessments of the patient and family in order to develop an outcome focused plan of care 2. Follows the plan of care in order to achieve identified patient outcomes 3. Contributes to the achievement of the plan of care as directed and delegated by RN 4. Intervenes in emergency situations as appropriate, as directed and delegated by RN C. Communicates effectively with patient/family, physicians, the interdependent team and other disciplines regarding the care of the patient 1. Relates patient care data and progress to outcomes to the designated RN 1
D. Complies with regulatory requirements, patient safety requirements, infection control practices, and other established practice standards, policies and procedures 1. Demonstrates safe practice in the provision of patient care 2. Identifies and reports unsafe practices in a proactive manner in order to prevent safety events E. Participates in the development and achievement of unit goals (Safety, cost, quality, satisfaction, engagement) 1. Collects and documents data for unit dashboard measurements 2. Participates in meetings and activities which support the achievement of unit goals 3. Monitors and reviews unit dashboard information on a regular basis 4. Understands financial principles and the interdependent teams role in achieving unit fiscal goals F. Achieves customer service excellence by understanding the needs of all customers i.e. patients, families, and physicians 1. Monitors and responds to customer satisfaction data and other internal/external customer feedback 2. Responds to and resolves customer complaints 3. Role models excellent customer service 2
Qualifications: A. Education: 1. High school diploma or equivalent. 2. Graduate of accredited medical or nursing assistant program or equivalent experience 3. At Bethesda Hospital, must be on the Nursing Assistant Registry at the time of hire. 4. Current Basic Life Support certification. B. Experience: 1. One year experience in a healthcare setting preferred C. Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 1. Knowledge to provide patient care within defined role 2. Ability to effectively document and communicate the patient care provided 3. Interpersonal and communication skills 4. Is competent to perform skills outlined on the competency checklist including population specific and age related knowledge. 3
