On Thursday and Friday, September 24th and 25tl1, representatives from the Tri City Consortium (Lynwood, Paramount, and Compton) attended the AB86 Adult Education Regional Planning Summit that was held in Sacramento, California. The Summit brought together representatives from all 70 adult education regions as well as the State AB86 Work Group and Cabinet to engage in discussions on how to better serve the educational needs of adults in California. Great strides are being made by consortia throughout the State in drafting plans for adult education in their respective regions. The Adult School continues to recognize student achievement by hosting a Student of the Month luncheon on September 29th at the Atlantic Site. Students were given Certificates of Achievement, and photos were taken of them and will be framed in a special section of the Atlantic Site hallway. We are pleased to announce that twenty-one graduates were acknowledged for their fine achievements, and twenty new nursing students were given caps and pins to signify their entry into the program. This has been, and continues to be, one of the most popular and well attended events of the year as evidenced by the many positive comments that the Adult School VN department has received. Many friends and loved ones were in attendance to wish the graduates congratulations and best of luck in their future endeavors. The Adult School would like to offer a special thanks to Dr. Gudiel Crosthwaite and Dr. Yesenia Fernandez for attending and offering their support to the Adult School VN program.
