Over 260 participants, from over 100 National Scout Organizations, Kandersteg International Scout Centre staff team, delivery team, planning team...every one made this great success. Pakistan Boy Scouts Associaiton was represented by the following contingent: - Mr. Sabir Hussain - Mr. Rizwan Jaffer - Mr. Saad Waqas This second edition of the event focused on the core business of Scouting. It looked at what needs to happen in the areas of Youth Programme and Adult Resources, in order to prepare for the changing world in which we live. The very first speaker was Ahmad Alhendawi, the Secretary General of WOSM since March 2017. He gave many valuable insights about trends, and compared humanity with ice-cream, in economic 7 terms. Every year, the world is spending around 60 billion US-dollars on ice-cream. At the same time, we have 225 million youth who are NEET, meaning Not in Education, Employment, or Training. To provide those kids with 12 years of education would cost 40 billion US-dollars, Mr. Alhendawi said. He questioned why we can't afford to spend more on humanitarian systems when it's three times less on what we spend on ice-cream. Another purpose for the congress was to help shape the focus for educational methods around the world from 2017 onwards. The first day was focused on the future. It 'fast forwarded' participants to the future, to 2023, where they could consider some of the forecast changes in society, demography, technology, and other trends, as well as what this means for young people and education.
