XV. Gebirgskorps (XV Mountain Corps) The XV Mountain Corps was formed in the summer of 1943 and was stationed in Croatia. It was assigned to pacify the area, to disarm Italian troops following the surrender of Italy to the Allies, and to control the partisan movements in Croatia and the coastal areas of Dalmatia.
