PARENT ADVISORY COUNCIL: All parents are invited to attend Lake City Secondary PAC meetings. The meetings are held at 6:00 p.m. NEXT MEETING The next PAC meeting is, May 28 th at the Columneetza library. WHAT S HAPPENING AT LAKE CITY SECONDARY SCHOOL: Spring sports have started and include: Boys Rugby Girls Rugby Boys and Girls Soccer Boys and Girls Cross Country Track & Field All athletes are welcome and encouraged to come out. Please contact the office at either campus for more information. Fruit and Vegetable Program: BC Agriculture in the classroom supplies fresh fruit or vegetables 12 times a school year free to students. If parents do not want their child to receive the fruit or vegetables they need to let the schools know. Public Health Information: Services and Resources for Columneetza and Williams Lake Campuses. Nurses are available at both campuses on Wednesdays for students and staff providing resources and services on many topics as well as confidential consultations. Girls' Rugby: In May, the Falcons will play in the Zone s Championships, head to Vancouver Island, for the 7 s Provincials, then host the 15 s Provincials, on May 24 26. ART: The Gecko Tree Restaurant along with the Lake City Secondary Fine Arts Department is proud to present Nothing to Weird, an exhibition featuring the work of nine students studying in various subject matter and media to showcase their creative artistic talents. The arts curriculum at the high-school level is based on four central ideas developing creativity, communicating, understanding culture, and making connections. The knowledge and understanding of design concepts are explored through projects that develop critical and creative skills. Ten Students from the senior classes at LCSS are showing their work at the Gecko tree restaurant for the month of May. Head down to Mackenzie Ave for a coffee and see some of the great talent our school has to offer the public. How would you like to spend Spring Break 2019 in the Amazon Rainforest? Lake City Secondary will be offering a Me to WE service learning trip to Ecuador in 2019! This amazing trip will be a blend of sightseeing and giving back to local communities through Me to We. Stay at the Minga Lodge in the Amazon Basin, experience the culture of Quito and the waterfalls of Banos, and shadow a farmer on a cacao plantation to learn the trade. Want to learn more? Columneetza Campus: Every Tuesday and Thursday sandwich wraps are on sale in the canteen (Columneetza) for $4 or a lunch combo wrap, chips and drink for $5. Homemade, pick your own toppings or come for chips/ drinks. Also the fit club, trains Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday s from 3:30-5pm. come out for personal fitness or train for a sports team. Track and Field training starts now as there are two major events in early May. 2018 Grad News: Grad 2018 is Friday June 8 th at 6:30pm. Grad Fees are $120.00 and can be paid in the office. Half of the fees go to the school and the gowns and caps, while the other half goes to the dry grad. The dry grad committee is looking for parent volunteers. If you are willing to volunteer on the grad committee please contact: Stephanie Gannon, email: challisssteph@yahoo.com Graduation Transitions: Graduation presentations will be in the gym on Wednesday, May 23 rd. Grade 12 s that have not completed their Grad Transitions by April 16 th have been removed from the grad list. Once Grad Transitions are completed they will be put back on. There will also be a variety of other activities and concessions that students can pay for. Most will cost a dollar and all money raised will go to the Red Cross. The dance will go from 6 until 9 p.m. It will be in the Columneetza gym, and the theme is Rustic Gala.
