Overview This presentation discusses key Headquarters Army milestones on the road to Army sustainability. We begin in October 2004, with publication of Army Strategy for the Environment, Sustain the Mission, Secure the Future. We move through 2004-2007, 2007, recording milestones, also glancing at tools and events that support Army sustainability. Finally, we glimpse the future what still needs to be done.

Sustainable Range Program Army Regulation 350-19 The Army Sustainable Range Program The proponent of this regulation is the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-3/5/7 G Objective (3) Sustain Range and Training Facilities Dedicated outreach integrated management

ESOH in Acquisition and Equipping Industrial Operations RDT&E Weapon System Acquisition Transportation Equipment Reduce environmental impacts on installations from fielded systems. Integrate pollution prevention into the acquisition process. Prevent environmental requirements from adversely impacting schedule, performance, or budget of an acquisition program.

Army EMS Implementation NLT [no later than] FY04 EMS in place NLT 31 December 2005. The Army will adopt the internationally recognized management system standard, ISO 14001, as a goal. Full conformance with the ISO 14001 standard shall be completed NLT FY09.
