& Nominations Package Release date: May 2017

ITS Canada and its Members Services Committee would like to thank you for your interest in the ITS Canada National Awards Program. This 2017 year marks the 8 th year of the program, ip by acknowledging significant and defining people, projects, and initiatives in our Canadian ITS marketplace. There are 3 award categories: 1. Municipal, Provincial, or Federal Agency ITS Project/Program Award 2. Canadian Universities/Colleges ITS Project/Program/Innovation Award 3. Canadian Commercial/Industry Technology Innovation and R&D Award To enhance the novelty of this awards program, only one recipient per year is anticipated for each award category. However, in the event that more than one submission is deemed by the evaluation committee to be equally unique and as warranted of the honor as another submission, both may be considered for award in the same category. Conversely, however, there is no requirement either for awards to be given in each category if nominations are not deemed by the evaluation committee to be sufficiently qualified. For your consideration, a guideline for the selection of nominees for each award category is provided in Appendix A. All award nominators and nominees should be aware of the following schedule of key dates. Task 2017 Dates Release of May 8 Nomination Submission Deadline July 14 Nomination Evaluation Period July 14 to Aug 14 Notice of Award to Successful Nominees August 15 Award Presentation at ITS Canada October 29 Membership Evening Reception at ITS World Congress, Montréal For your use, Nomination Forms for each award category are provided in Appendix B. Any nomination along with completed Nomination Form received after the due date may not be accepted, and the nominator will be notified accordingly.

All nominations are to remain confidential. Unsuccessful nominees are eligible to resubmit nominations if they choose to in subsequent years. Completed Nomination Forms may be submitted to ITS Canada by mail, fax, or email. Mail Fax Email ITS Canada 6975 Meadowvale Town Centre Circle, Suite 400 Mississauga, Ontario L5N 2V7 (905) 593-0949 askus@itscanada.ca * National Awards 2017 the subject line A voluntary evaluation committee will be formed to review and discuss each nomination for the award categories. The evaluation committee will include representatives from across Canada and will be representative of the private and public sectors, and academia. Upon the closing of the e evaluation committee will review each nomination for the purpose of discussing overall merits. Through a qualitative judgmentbased evaluation process of the general criteria for each category, winners will be selected by the evaluation committee. Where deemed necessary, the evaluation committee may realign nominations into the most relevant award category, rather than under the category that the nomination was originally submitted. Where a conflict of interest may be present between an evaluation committee member and a nominated project or person, the committee member will be temporarily excused from further participation for that particular award category.

Award recipients will be profiled through the following media: 1. Formal acknowledgement and award at the ITS Canada Membership Evening at the 2017 ITS World Congress in Montreal, Quebec. 2. Profile of the award winners - presentations by the winners at the ITS Canada Pavilion during the Conference Exhibition at the Palais des congrès de Montreal. 3. Announcement on the ITS Canada website 4. Email notification to the ITS Canada membership 5. Forward list of award winners to other associations for announcement in their respective publications. By submitting a Nomination Form, the corresponding individual nominated or individual representative for the nominated project also consents to have his/her name and photo published in connection with the 2017 category award. Awards for each category will be formally announced, and recipients awarded, at a special awards segment of the ITS Canada Membership Evening being held Sunday evening, October 29, 2017 at the 2017 ITS World Congress at the Palais des congrès de Montreal Each recipient, or its designated representative in the case of an agency, is requested to be present at the ITS Canada Members Evening to personally receive the award. A statement indicating who on behalf of the nominated person/organization will be accepting, should they win, is requested to be indicated (if possible) in the nomination submission.
