Student Spotlight Michael E., 8th grade, began his Pre Engineering Freshman Program the summer of 2017. From a group of 1000 students, Michael was selected to participate this school year in the LCATS, a NASA funded program to build 21st Century skills in engineering. Twice a month, on Saturdays, Michael attends class at UTSA/ downtown Campus to learn about space and NASA s plan to colonize the moon. Michael and his team are responsible for building a CO2 sensor which is similar to the sensors being currently built for actual moon colonization. He will use this sensor to be placed on a robot which will explore the hidden gases in a Texas cave. Congratulations Michael! We are proud of your efforts. Lord Jesus, I give you my hands to do your work. I give you my feet to go your way. I give you my eyes to see as you do. I give you my tongue to speak your words. I give you my mind that you may think in me. I give you my spirit that you may pray in me. Above all, I give you my heart that you may love in me, your Father, and all mankind. I give you my whole self that you may grow in me so that it is you, Lord Jesus, who live and work and pray in me. Amen Halloween Festival Information Halloween Festival - Sat. International Pilgrim Virgin Statue of Our Lady of Fatima coming to St. Gregory the Great!! May 13th of this year marked the 100th anniversary of the apparitions of Our Lady to three shepherd children in the small village of Fatima in Portugal in 1917. She appeared six times to Lucia, 9, and her cousins Francisco, 8, and his sister Jacinta, 6, between May 13, 1917 and October 13, 1917. The messages Our Lady imparted during the apparitions to the children concerned the violent trials that would afflict the world by means of war, starvation, and the persecution of the Church and the Holy Father in the twentieth century if the world did not make reparation for sins. She exhorted the Church to pray and offer sacrifices to God in order that peace may come upon the world. This message continues to be very important for our entire world today as all of us struggle and pray for peace! On Tuesday, November 7th, the International Pilgrim Virgin Statue of Our Lady of Fatima will be brought to St. Gregory the Great Parish for the entire day. Mr. Patrick Sabat, the custodian of the statue, who accompanies the statue of Our Lady of Fatima, will conduct the program for the parish visit after a 7:00 p.m. Mass. On Tuesday, November 7th, St. Gregory the Great School will have a special Holy Hour of Prayer at 1:45 p.m. in the Church in honor of Our Lady of Fatima. Please come to join with us in our prayer for peace for our world community. You are encouraged to bring your family, your relatives, your friends, your neighbors, and anyone else who believes in the power of prayer that can touch the hearts of all! Our Lady of Fatima, pray for us!! Congratulations to our AMAZING Robotics Team!! The Robotics team competed in the SABest Competition and took 3rd place overall! There were only 3 middle schools represented and 38 high schools. We lost 2nd place by 2 points. We also won the Founder Award and Most Creative Design Award. This is a very big deal for StG! The Mighty Charger Robotics Team competed Saturday, Oct. 14th at St. Mary s University. Their task this year was to build a robot which would be able to put out a fire and save a human life. The fire, represented by cups, the water, represented by balls, and the person to save, represented by a mannequin, prove to be a great challenge. This competition was created for high school students but our GREAT team held their own. Let s wish our great robotics team well as they continue on with the competition at State. Thank you, Mrs. Mayhan and all of our parent volunteers for spending the last eight Saturdays in a row with the students building the robot and learning all about robotics. #begreat United in Spirit through Faith in God and Academic Excellence Pag
