Frequently, those seeking to celebrate Marriage, have children baptized, or serve as sponsors for Confirmation or Baptism request a letter stating that they are parishioners and active, practicing Catholics. To receive such a letter, one must be registered in the parish, attend Mass regularly, and be committed to a stewardship of time, talent, and treasure. We encourage all parishioners to become active in one of the parish organizations. In a community as large as Our Lady of Hope, one means of verifying participation is through the use of parish offertory envelopes. If you choose not to participate in the support of the parish, or are unable to contribute at this time, please at least note your prayerful support on your envelope and place it in the weekly offertory. We will then be aware of your continued participation, and you will not be noted as "inactive" on our parish roster. Baptism & Baptism Class To begin the process of having a child baptized, please contact the parish office for information. There is paperwork (Godparent forms/information Sheet for the Sacramental Register) as well as a baptism class for parents to complete. Baptisms are held on Sundays at 1:30 p.m. The baptism class is held monthly on Saturdays at 11:00 a.m. Please call the office to pre-register for the next available class. First Communion For Children: Generally, First Communion is received when a child is in Second Grade. Students in the RE Program are required to be registered for both first and second grade to begin preparation for the Sacrament. Please contact the Religious Education Office with questions. Sacrament of Matrimony In accordance with the regulations of the Bishop of Arlington, couples must contact a priest and begin preparation at least six months prior to the wedding. Parish registration and active participation for a minimum of 3 months is required before preparation may begin. Living together before marriage is sinful and harmful to the future marriage. Couples who are living together will be asked to live separately during the preparation time.

John Fisher and Thomas More on June 21 through the 4th of July. The theme will be Freedom for Mission and prayers will be intensified for the preservation and protection of our freedom to fulfill our Church s mission in our community, in our country and in our world. To open the Fortnight, Bishop Burbidge will celebrate a Mass at the Cathedral of St. Thomas More in Arlington on Thursday, June 22 at 7:00 p.m. There will be a reception following in Burke Hall. Go to www.arlingtondiocese.org/ fortnight for more information. Be a Guardian Angel Each year, we have several students in need of financial aid to attend our parish grade school. The parish itself and the Parent Teacher Organization do award over $60,000 in such aid. Nevertheless, there are families in need, and some families face unexpected financial situations. If you would like to help a child in need, please contact Father Saunders. Many of us know the benefit of a Catholic education, and ever more, a faith-based program and environment for schooling is important for the success of a young person in this life and the life to come. This can be done anywhere in the world. To obtain the plenary indulgence, the faithful must go to Confession and Communion, be interiorly detached from sin, also pray an Our Father, recite the Creed, invoke Our Lady of Fatima and pray for the intentions of the Holy Father. The Our Lady of Fatima statue will be displayed at the morning Masses on Tuesday, June 13th. Our Lady of Fatima, pray for us.
