Destruction Notice: None Foreign Disclosure: FD1 - This training product has been reviewed by the training developers in coordination with the Fort Leavenworth foreign disclosure officer. This training product can be used to instruct international military students from all approved countries without restrictions. Standards: The staff develops personnel recovery guidance by coordinating vertically and horizontally and integrating the guidance into the military decision making process during all phases of the operation. The staff includes Personnel Recovery (PR) guidance in all seven steps of the Military Decision Making Process (MDMP). 3. The staff participates in receipt of mission and mission analysis steps of MDMP, and verifies that PR include: a. Review PR guidance from higher headquarters plans/orders and specific PR guidance found in any of the following: (1) Base Order. (2) Annex C. (3) Combat search and rescue. (4) PR Special Instructions. (5) Regional security office, Department of State instructions. (6) Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA). (7) Civil search and rescue authority. b. Identify potential recovery assets and authority to deploy recovery assets. c. Define Isolated Soldier Guidance (ISG) Isolation Criteria. d. Confirm PR is included into the Commanders Critical Information Requirements (CCIR). 4. The staff confirms the commanders intent for PR during course of action development, analysis, and comparison: a. Address PR in Commander's intent. b. Include PR in running estimates. c. Define PR task organization. d. Define PR control measures. e. Define intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance requirements for PR. f. Include PR in synchronization matrix. g. Adjust PR to friendly force Information requirements / essential elements of friendly information, if required. h. Adjust isolation criteria, as required. 5. The staff, led by the PR element, provides input to plans and orders that incorporates PR guidance. 6. Confirm ISG includes the following elements: a. Isolation criteria that define the circumstances under which the soldier should execute the actions defined in ISG. (1) Define in terms that will be recognizable to the commander and Soldiers. (2) Develop at each echelon and ensure compliance with higher echelon guidance. b. Establish prearranged near and far recognition signals. (1) Electronic devices, radios. (2) Non-electronic, visual signals. c. Establish prearranged link-up points. d. Confirm dissemination of ISG to the individual Soldier level. Page 4

It is a continual process and starts with deliberate planning. Always be alert to ways to protect our environment during training and missions. In doing so, you will contribute to the sustainment of our training resources while protecting people and the environment from harmful effects. Refer to the current Environmental Considerations manual and the current GTA Environmental-related Risk Assessment card.. Safety: In a training environment, leaders must perform a risk assessment in accordance with current Risk Management Doctrine. Leaders will complete the current Deliberate Risk Assessment Worksheet in accordance with the TRADOC Safety Officer during the planning and completion of each task and sub-task by assessing mission, enemy, terrain and weather, troops and support available-time available and civil considerations, (METT-TC). Note: During MOPP training, leaders must ensure personnel are monitored for potential heat injury. Local policies and procedures must be followed during times of increased heat category in order to avoid heat related injury.
