Scholarship application for entry in 2018 Diocesan offers a range of scholarships for new students to Diocesan. Scholarships are awarded to motivated students who display outstanding academic, sporting, performing arts or musical ability. Please tick which scholarships you are applying for: SCHOLARSHIPS Academic Scholarships Applicants must be top achieving students who demonstrate outstanding academic ability. Applicants will be expected to be involved in the wider life of school through Sports, Arts or Service. ENTRY LEVEL Year 7 Tick below Arts Scholarships Applicants must demonstrate an exceptional level of skill and ability in their chosen discipline. In music, this will be demonstrated by having attained Grade 5 or above in your main instrument. You will be expected to be fully involved in the Diocesan cultural and/or musical programmes, including representing the school in competitions and events. As an arts role model you must give service to the Performing Arts co-curricular programme at Diocesan through coaching and managing junior groups. Your work ethic must extend across your academic studies and you will show the ability to self-manage your time and commitment. Year 10 Sports Scholarships Applicants must be an elite athlete who has been selected for a representative team or had success at a regional or national level. You will be expected to be fully involved in the Diocesan sports programmes demonstrating a commitment to both your sport and the wider sport culture within the school. As a sports role model you must give service to the school through coaching, managing or administration. Important Information Continuation of all scholarships is subject to meeting the criteria of the scholarship each year. Scholarships are reviewed annually in September by our Senior Management Team. As well as the criteria outlined above, students are expected to show exemplary behaviour, good academic performance and participation in the overall life of the School. For academic scholarships you must remain in the top 10 percent of your year group. Scholarships are available to New Zealand citizens and permanent residents only. Your scholarship application needs to be accompanied by a Diocesan School for Girls application form. Inside the application form, please write Scholarship Applicant and enclose it with the completed scholarship form and supporting data. There is a $250 non refundable registration fee for scholarship aplications, to be paid when you submit your application. Please use your daughter s name and the word scholarship as a reference. The School s bank account details are 03-0195-0013812-00. Please include copies of additional information such as recent school reports, results and certificates. Do not send original documents or awards. Should the student be successful in attaining a scholarship, the student s family is responsible for the registration fee, enrolment fee, the remainder of the tuition fees, as well as all incidental costs including, but not limited to, laptop, school trips, uniforms and stationery. Signature of Parent / Guardian Date TIMELINE FOR SCHOLARSHIP Applications for scholarships open on Wednesday, 11 January 2017 and close on Wednesday, 15 February 2017 at midday. No late applications will be accepted. Signature of Parent / Guardian Date All applicants are welcome to attend our Open Day on Saturday, 18 March from 10am to 12pm. All applicants must sit our scholarship examination at Diocesan School for Girls on Wednesday, 22 February 2017 starting at 8.50am and finishing at 11am. Please bring a water bottle and morning tea. Please ensure you are available on this date as there is no alternative test day. Following the examination, applicants will be shortlisted and invited to attend an interview on Thursday, 23 March 2017. Applicants shortlisted for the Arts scholarships will be required to audition on Thursday, 23 March 2017. All applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application by Thursday, 13 April 2017. Please note that all decisions are final. Due to the overwhelming interest in scholarships to attend Diocesan School for Girls we are unable to give individual feedback on applicant s results.
