STUDENT AGREEMENT For the ERASMUS MUNDUS Joint Master Degree (EMJMD) in Sustainable Tropical Forestry (SUTROFOR) 2018-2020 The SUTROFOR coordinating institution, University of Copenhagen, represented by Professor Carsten Smith-Hall, on behalf of the SUTROFOR Consortium formed by the following Partner Institutions: University of Copenhagen (UCPH), Denmark; Bangor University (BU) UK; Technische Universität Dresden (TUD), Germany; Institut des Sciences et Industries du Vivant et de l Environnement (AgroParisTech), France; Università degli Studi di Padova (UP), Italy and the student Surname/family name: Given name: Date of Birth (dd/mm/yyyy): Place of Birth: Nationality: Passport number: agree on the following terms and conditions: 1. General provisions 1.1. The student will obtain assistance from relevant administrative units of Partner Institutions (International Office, Study Administration, Career Centre etc.) with general administrative formalities such as accommodation, enrolment, introduction week, how to get a student card, procedures for opening bank accounts locally, residence permit, registration with local authorities, visa information etc. 1.2. The SUTROFOR Consortium is exonerated from any responsibility for accidents, illnesses, injuries, issues related to delays in visa/residence permit application procedures, losses or damages to persons or goods resulting from or in any way related to the activities that are object of the present contract. 2. Applicable to all SUTROFOR students 2.1. The student commits him-/herself to attend all compulsory modules and study activities of SUTROFOR, which starts by the end of August/beginning of September 2018, and is approved by the European Commission with a nominal duration of two academic years comprising 120 ECTS. 2.2. The Partner Institutions will endeavor to provide the Student with tuition, supervision, assessment and support services of a professional standard. 2.3. Relevant information concerning the structure and organization of the SUTROFOR EMJMD is available via the SUTROFOR website http://www.sutrofor.eu.
2.4. During the two years, the student must be formally enrolled at two different European Partner Institutions for one academic year (60 ECTS) each. 2.5. Local rules and regulations of the European Partner Institution at which the student is enrolled apply to modules that are followed, grading of modules, re-sits, consultation of graded work etc. 2.6. The student commits to behave in a responsible and ethical manner during their studies. They will commit no fraudulent act (such as, but not limited to, plagiarism of (academic) work, cheating, falsification). They furthermore declare not to misuse or abuse the access that is granted as part of the SUTROFOR EMJMD to facilities, equipment and installations etc. Breach of this commitment on the part of the student will be treated by the relevant local and SUTROFOR governing bodies and may cause the exclusion of the student from the SUTROFOR EMJMD. 2.7. The student is obligated to participate in SUTROFOR programme surveys and evaluations as well as cooperate with Erasmus+ EMJMD surveys from the European Union Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA). 2.8. The student commits to becoming a member of the Erasmus Mundus Students and Alumni Association (EMA) upon their graduation from SUTROFOR. 2.9. Upon completion of all compulsory courses and modules of the SUTROFOR-programme (120 ECTS), the student will receive a Double Degree: a master degree from each of the European Partner Institutions at which they have completed one full year (60 ECTS) of SUTROFOR studies in accordance with both the applicable local and general SUTROFOR rules and regulations. 2.10. Depending on the pathway (mobility-track) followed during the SUTROFOR EMJMD programme, the student can obtain the following degrees: UCPH: Cand. scient. i bæredygtig tropisk skovbrug/msc in Forests and Livelihoods BU: MSc in Sustainable Tropical Forestry TUD: MSc in Tropical Forestry AgroParisTech: Master 3A : Sciences et technologies de l agriculture, de l alimentation et de l environnement, parcours Gestion environnementale des écosystèmes et forêts tropicales/msc in Agricultural Sciences, Specialisation Environmental Management of Ecosystems and Tropical Forests UP: Scienze forestali/msc in Forest Science. 3. Applicable to SUTROFOR EMJMD student scholarship holders 3.1. The SUTROFOR coordinating institution (UCPH) will provide the student with basic insurance for the nominal two-year duration of SUTROFOR. The insurance provided is in line with the EMJMD insurance requirements as set by the EACEA and is covered by the Erasmus+ EMJMD SUTROFOR scholarship. 3.2. The SUTROFOR tuition fee cover the student s participation in all modules of SUTROFOR at the different Partner Institutions. The SUTROFOR tuition fee is paid for by the Erasmus+ EMJMD SUTROFOR scholarship and distributed by the SUTROFOR coordinating institution to the partner universities when applicable.
Erasmus Mundus student scholarship amounts for the different components of the EMJMD SUTROFOR programme: Partner Country student* Programme Country student* Contribution to travel costs 3,000 or 2,000 per year** 1,000 per year Contribution to installation 1,000 n/a costs Contribution to participation costs (including insurance) 9,000 per year 1,500 per year (including insurance) Contribution to subsistence costs 1,000 per month (for up to 24 months) 1,000 per month (for up to 24 months) *Programme countries are the Member States of the EU, former Yugoslav, Republic of Macedonia, Iceland, Lichtenstein, Norway and Turkey. Partner country are all other countries. Erasmus+ EMJMD SUTROFOR scholarship students are informed by the SUTROFOR coordinating institution to which category they belong. - Students whose citizenship is one of the Erasmus+ Partner Countries count as Partner Country students. - Partner Country students who are not residents nor have carried out their main activity (studies, training or work) for more than a total of 12 months over the last five years in any Programme Country are considered as Partner Country students5. The five-year reference period for this 12-months rule is calculated backwards as from the submission deadline (defined by the consortia) of applying for an EMJMD student scholarship. -Students whose citizenship is one of the Erasmus+ Programme Countries count as Programme Country students. Students with a Partner Country citizenship who do not fulfil the Partner Country criteria defined above (12-months rule) count as Programme Country students. **Partner country students whose original place of residence is located at less than 4.000km from the coordinating institution receive 2,000 per year for the nominal duration of the two year SUTROFOR programme. Partner country students whose original place of residence is located at more than 4.000km from the coordinating institution receive 3,000 per year for the nominal duration of the two year SUTROFOR programme. This calculation of distance is done using the Erasmus+ tool dedicated to this purpose. 3.3. Contribution to subsistence costs will not be paid out to the scholarship holders for the SUTROFOR programme in periods (e.g. study/research/placement/thesis) spend in their original country of residence, nor to scholarship holders from a Partner Country for SUTROFOR periods exceeding three months spend in any Partner Country. 3.4. All scholarship funds paid out to the scholarship holder will have to be managed properly by the scholarship holder. They will have to ensure sufficient funds are available throughout the study programme in order to be able to participate in all mandatory study activities. 3.5. Contribution to installation costs is to cover additional costs e.g. for visa application procedure, acquiring of residence permit, temporary accommodation etc. 3.6. Upon arrival at a European Partner Institution, each scholarship holder is required to open a local bank account. The scholarship funds will be paid, by bank transfer, to this account. 3.7. If a change occurs in the students account details, he/she is responsible for promptly communicating to the SUTROFOR Secretariat any change of bank details.
3.8. The contribution to travel and installation costs (if applicable) is paid out to the student at the beginning of the academic year. 3.9. The contribution to monthly subsistence costs are paid out in 24 monthly instalments over the duration of the SUTROFOR EMJMD programme, with transfer of instalments taking place in the last week of each month to cover the subsistence costs of the following month. 3.10. The payment of the annual contribution to travel and installation costs and the first payment of the contribution to monthly subsistence costs will be done by the SUTROFOR Secretariat as soon as possible after the student has opened a local bank account and has informed the SUTROFOR Secretariat of the relevant personal and account details. 3.11. Scholarship payments will cease after the nominal two-year duration of the SUTROFOR programme or in case of de-registration from the SUTROFOR EMJMD programme (or from the underlying local Masters programme at the relevant European Partner Institution). 3.12. The student commits to reimburse the SUTROFOR Consortium for any scholarship funds they have received which exceed the period of enrolment in the SUTROFOR EMJMD programme (e.g. if the student has received their contribution to subsistence costs for November in the last week of October and de-registers per 1 November). 3.13. The scholarship holder consents to the SUTROFOR Consortium deducing the SUTROFOR participation costs directly from the Erasmus Mundus student scholarship. 3.14. Students who have already obtained an Erasmus+ EMJMD scholarship or an Erasmus Mundus Master/Doctoral scholarship are not eligible for scholarship under the EMJMD action. 3.15. The student is obliged not to receive any other scholarship or subvention financed by the European Union under other Community programs. 4. Applicable to self-funding SUTROFOR students (non-scholarship students) Self-funding SUTROFOR EMJMD student participation fee per academic year Non-EEA nationalities EEA nationalities 9,000 per year 1,500 per year 4.1. The SUTROFOR participation fees cover the student s participation in all mandatory (mobility) modules of SUTROFOR at the different partner universities. This refers to actual participation in/attendance of the mandatory modules only, and does thus not cover costs for travel, accommodation, visa etc. 4.2. The SUTROFOR participation fee is charged to the student by the SUTROFOR Secretariat and are to be paid in accordance with the instructions as provided with the invoice sent by the SUTROFOR Secretariat to the student. 4.3. Self-funding SUTROFOR students will receive such an invoice per academic semester. 4.4. In case of due payment of participation fee by the set payment deadline, the SUTROFOR consortium reserves the right to de-register the student from the SUTROFOR EMJMD programme with immediate effect. 4.5. In case the student decides to de-register from the programme, they must inform the SUTROFOR Secretariat. 4.6. Reimbursement of pre-paid participation fee is no longer possible after the semester has started.

Any alteration to the present Contract or Annex must be communicated in writing. All alterations to the initial situation must be immediately communicated by the Student to the SUTROFOR Secretariat. Upon mutual agreement of contractual modifications, the SUTROFOR Consortium will issue addenda to the present contract. 6.2. Without prejudice to the general consequences laid down in national law applicable in the present contract, the SUTROFOR Consortium reserves the right to cease the effects of the present contract, without recourse to any juridical procedure apart from adequate communication to the Student. By signing this agreement, I declare that I have read, understood and accept the conditions laid down in the present contract and that I inform the central SUTROFOR coordinating institution in case of not meeting or not being able to meet the requirements as they are outlined in this agreement.
