A division of the New England Venture Capital Association 2016 Year in Review
Given the number of top colleges and universities in our backyard, young talent is Boston's best competitive advantage. Connecting students with local technology and healthcare companies is a no-brainer, but creating a bridge between students and companies has been challenging until the introduction of TechGen. I'm thrilled to be part of a solution that is powering the future of Boston's success. ERIC PALEY TechGen is the bridge connecting New England s best university students with its top healthcare and technology companies. Mission To strengthen the local innovation economy by creating personal connections between talent and prospective employers. Origins TechGen launched in 2015, born out of a public-private partnership between the New England Venture Capital Association and MassTech Collaborative. How it Works Students create a profile, explore companies, and apply. They also tap into local ecosystem events, workshops and news. Companies create a profile, post opportunities, and hire. What Companies Are Saying... Its a great format - We have hired 4 interns for the summer and one of them applied through both TechGen and our careers page. I would absolutely continue to use the portal for our next internship needs. Thanks! CLOUDHEALTH TECHNOLOGIES ViralGains Success ViralGains signed up for TechGen to find a marketing intern and after seeing success with that role, they opened it up to other departments including sales and software engineering. They hired a handful of summer interns, three of whom converted to full time hires! Not only was hiring through TechGen an easy and efficient way to hire, but it also opened our talent pool to some amazing candidates from across the country. This was by far one of the most enjoyable and painless hiring experiences. We'll definitely be back next year! STEVE CHARNLEY, SALES OPERATIONS MANAGER "When we decided to kick off our search for a student intern to help us with content development, TechGen was the first call we made. Within a few days, they had connected us to an amazing Northeastern student who was a perfect match. Nick spent 6 months working full-time with our team during his co-op and truly became an integral part of the firm. We look forward to seeing next generation entrepreneurs emerge from this program!" JEFF BUSSGANG AND KATE CASTLE, FLYBRIDGE CAPITAL PARTNERS DataXu chose to partner with TechGen so we could get in touch with the best and brightest talent Boston has to offer, both undergraduate and graduate students. Their events and blog posts have really enabled us to tell our story students in the area we re excited to continue working with them! DAVID MULLER AND KERRY MCCARTHY, DATAXU 06
