SIG 167 Business Meeting, Saturday, April 5, 2014, 6:30 8 p.m. 11

Business Updates

Key Business in 2013-2014 (I) Awards We submitted revised petitions and finally got all three awards approved! There is some minor editing work with their titles to do but we are following up on that. We also awarded the Outstanding Contribution to Practice in Cognition and Assessment Award for the first time this year (more on this in a minute). Newsletter We created a new SIG newsletter with updates and segments like interviews. We are working on expanding the content of the newsletter and will create a new one after the conference! SIG 167 Business Meeting, Saturday, April 5, 2014, 6:30 8 p.m. 13

Key Business in 2013-2014 (II) Handbook for Cognition and Assessment Jackie Leighton and André Rupp proposed a co-edited Handbook of Cognition and Assessment to Wiley-Blackwell. The contract got signed in March 2014 and work on the handbook has commenced! It is scheduled for publication in 2016 and, while not a SIG publication per se, has many contributions by SIG members. The handbook will be a solid stepping stone for the creation of a SIG Journal for Cognition and Assessment, which would be one desirable follow-up goal for the SIG (probably under the purview of my successor). SIG 167 Business Meeting, Saturday, April 5, 2014, 6:30 8 p.m. 14
