Statements & Search Criteria Mission AFP, an association of professionals throughout the world, advances philanthropy by enabling people and organizations to practice ethical and effective fundraising. The core activities through which AFP fulfills this mission include education, training, mentoring, research, credentialing and advocacy. Background Since 1960, the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) has inspired global change and supported efforts that generated over $1 trillion. AFP s nearly 30,000 individual and organizational members raise over $100 billion annually, equivalent to one-third of all charitable giving in North America and millions more around the world. Founded in 1994, the Everglades chapter provides monthly programs from September through May. While the majority of our programs are educational, we have a National Philanthropy Day celebration every year in November. Programs Programs Career Development Description From resources to certifications, AFP strives to provide the best and latest information to make members the best fundraising professionals possible! Long-Term Success All nonprofit fundraising professionals have CFRE certification. All nonprofit fundraising professionals are members of AFP. Examples of Long-Term Success Five additional fundraisers received CFRE certification in May 2015. AFP Everglades Chapter had 13 new members in 2014 and a membership retention rate of 95% Target Population 1 Adults Target Population 2 Chapter Job Center Description Long-Term Success Southwest Florida Nonprofits may post job openings on the AFP Everglades Chapter Job Center website page at reasonable cost. The postings are emailed to members and nonprofit organizations. The Job Posting page is popular as evidenced by frequent usage. Impact Goals What are your organization's long-term strategic goals? AFP's 2014-2016 Strategic Plan places increased focus on inclusion and influence, advocacy, policy and ethics, and relevant quality education. Strategies What are the major strategies you will do to accomplish your goals? The AFP Chapter provides: Monthly educational meetings and seminars in partnership with Hodges Center for Nonprofit Excellence, Greater Naples Area Planned Giving Council and the Community Foundation of Collier County. AFP advances philanthropy through its more than 31,000 members in 235 chapters throughout the world. Local chapter membership has increased from 54 in 2005 to 82 in 2014. Indicators What indicators do you use to measure progress? AFP publishes an annual Compensation & Benefits Report that provides valuable data on the characteristics of individual fundraisers--backgrounds, experience and responsibilities--and paints a picture of the current state of the profession. Progress What have and haven t you accomplished so far? Over the past year, the AFP Everglades Chapter has expanded its partnership with Hodges, GNAPGC and the Community Foundation in areas of program communication and coordination. 4
