The Ohio Youth-Led Prevention Network SFY 208 Request for Proposals Advancing the Engagement of Young People: Adult Training Academy and Technical Assistance Funding Opportunity The Ohio Youth-Led Prevention Network, a program of Prevention Action Alliance, with support from the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, is offering a funding opportunity for adult allies interested in establishing a local Youth-Led program or grounding an existing Youth-Led Program in the Youth Empowerment Conceptual Framework and Strategic Prevention Framework (Funding available up to $2,000) Background and Intent The goal of this RFP is to seek grantees who are interested in strengthening their skills in engaging young people in the Strategic Prevention Framework and The Youth Empowerment Conceptual Framework. Grantees will participate in a series of in-person Training Academies; these academies are designed to engage adult allies of all experience levels who have a shared passion in enhancing their practice through collective learning. In addition, Technical Assistance will be offered on an individualized basis. Groups are responsible for developing three final products as a result of their participation in the TA process: a group narrative which details their core group processes in relation to the Youth Empowerment Conceptual Framework (YECF) and Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF), an Individual and Group Strategic Plan Map to guide their work with young people, and a YECF model for their YLP. Groups will participate in multiple sessions with their TA providers to receive feedback and direction in completing these products. The expectation is that the process of drafting and revising documents will occur in between the scheduled Training Academy meetings. Grantees should remember that this is a unique opportunity to receive funds to engage in professional development, therefore grantees will be expected to participate fully in every aspect of the opportunity. Eligible applicants include Adult leaders who have a strong desire to expand their knowledge, skills, and abilities as it relates to engaging in Youth-Led Prevention and empowering their youth to create change in their communities. Two adult allies per organization are required to participate in the learning collaborative meetings. Preference will be given to applicants from urban and rural communities. Funding timeframe Applicants may apply for up to $2000 for this one time, ten-month funding opportunity beginning September, 207 and ending June 0, 208. Permissible Use of Funds Funds may be expended on travel, lodging, per diems, registration fees and other items approved by the Director of Youth-Led Programing and Leadership Team. Scope of Work Grantees will be responsible for the following: Participate, in person, in four Training Academies to further develop their knowledge, skills and attitudes for engaging young people in the strategic prevention framework and the Youth Empowerment Conceptual Framework Academies will be held in central Ohio from 9:0am :0pm on the following dates: Friday, September 8 th ; Friday, November 7 th ; Friday, February 6 th, and Friday, June st. Participate in the Annual Adult Ally Summit to be held in central Ohio in early December, 207 (Registration cost will be $50). Must meet Quarterly Deliverables: o Q - Complete all pre-work, Attend training academy #, Begin work on final deliverables for the TA process o Q2 - Complete pre-work, Attend training academy #2 Attend Adult Allies Summit, Continue work on the final products for the TA process o Q - Complete pre-work, Attend training academy # o Q4 - Complete pre-work, Attend training academy #4 (virtual) and #5, Attend OPEC, Attend We Are The Majority Rally, Attend Youth-Led Leadership Academy, Finalize three TA products Engage members of their group in YLP strategies Actively participate in TA sessions with your TA provider Participate in the Youth-Led Leadership Academy to be held in May, 208. Grantees should bring up to four (4) members from their YLP to participate in the Summit and will be responsible for co-presenting on the development and implementation of their youth-drive Community- Level Strategic Plan Map ($50 per registration). Conditions of Award and Assurances The undersigned grantee makes the following representations and agrees to the following conditions in accepting funds from Prevention Action Alliance through the Ohio Youth Led Prevention Network capacity building grants.. Grantee will utilize the funds solely for the purpose of participation as outlined in the grant application. a. Funds CAN NOT be used for overhead, equipment/furniture, or any product or publication purchased from Prevention Action Alliance. b. Funds CAN be used for food/beverages or for any travel purposes. c. Funds will not be used to issue mini-grants or offer any other direct financial assistance to other organizations or individuals. 2. Grantee possesses the legal authority to apply for the grant and a motion resolution, or similar action has been adopted by Grantee and certified or executed by a duly authorized officer or representative of Grantee, authorizing the filing of the application for the Funds, including all understandings and assurances contained therein, and directing and authorizing the person identified below as the official representative of the Grantee to act in connection with the Application and to provide such additional information as may be required.. Grantee will comply with all applicable federal, state and local laws prohibiting unlawful discrimination on the basis of race, ethnicity, age, color, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation or disability. 4. Grantee will acknowledge the source of the funds on all written materials generated from the Project, and in all advertising and media releases using the following language: The Project was funded by Prevention Action Alliance with grants and support from the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services. 5. Grantee will complete all activities and related expenses by June 0, 208. a. Grantee will calculate fund expenditures and report any anticipated unspent funds to Prevention Action Alliance by Friday, June 2 nd, 208. b. If the Grantee does not expend the entire portion of the awarded funds, the remaining funds will be returned to Prevention Action Alliance by Friday, June 6, 208. 6. Grantee will not make any budget changes without the prior approval of Prevention Action Alliance. If grant funds are used other than set forth in the application, without written approval, the applicant will repay the full amount of the grant. 7. Grantee understands that failure to meet the parameters of 5 and 6 above will impact the grantee s ability to receive funding from Prevention Action Alliance for future projects. 8. Grantee hereby agrees to indemnify, defend, save and hold harmless Prevention Action Alliance from any and all liabilities, obligations, claims, suits, actions, losses, damages, fines, penalties or any other costs which arise in whole or in part out of any authorized or unauthorized acts by Grantee, its
representatives, agents, employees or affiliates, directly or indirectly related to the Project or the Funds. 9.
