NEP Sessions on Business Model Canvas and Entrepreneurial Finance & Accounting in Faisalabad & Gujranwala Dr. Najam Anjum and Asif Jaffer visited National Textile University Faisalabad on 2 nd & 3 rd Dec, 2017 and GIFT University Gujranwala on 8 th & 9 th Dec, 2017 to teach in IBA National Entrepreneurship Program (NEP). Building upon the previous sessions of effectual entrepreneurship, Dr. Najam discussed the Timmon s Model, Business Model Canvas and its nine blocks. Based on Business Model Canvas approach, participants were asked to start working on their business models. Furthermore, Prof. Asif Jaffer discussed the entrepreneurial finance and accounting. He also emphasized that for entrepreneurial ventures, it was important to identify slack resources and grow the operations organically. IBA AMAN CED launched Science & Technology Entrepreneurship Program (STEP) on 3 rd Dec, 2017 IBA AMAN CED launched Science & Technology Entrepreneurship Program (STEP) on 3rd December, 2017. The session began with the recitation of Holy Quran followed by the introductory session by Dr. Shahid Qureshi, Program Director AMAN CED IBA Karachi. The STEP Fall 2017 has 73 students from different Universities i.e. Karachi University, Dawood University, NED, SSUET, UIT, PAK KIET, INDUS, Mehran University, Sindh University, Dadabhoy Institute and APTECH Institute. The main objective of STEP is to equip the Science and Technology students & professionals with the entrepreneurial mindset and skills. Hence they would be able to utilize their technical skills to create their own ventures.

9th Dec 2017: National Entrepreneurship Program (NEP) Hyderabad delegation s visit to IBA Karachi. IBA CED embraced the presence of 38 participants of IBA National Entrepreneurship Program (NEP) Hyderabad on 9th December 2017. They visited IBA main campus along with Dr. Arabella Bhutto (Co-Director MUISTD), Dr. Adnan Patafi (Assistant Professor) and the management staff of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (IEC) of Mehran University. Moreover, a team from Isra University Hyderabad also accompanied the delegation. The batch had a tour to AMAN CED s hatchery and incubation center in which they interacted with the entrepreneurs who were running their ventures. Azad Ahmed (Manager CED) briefed the participants about the hatchery and incubation programs of IBA CED. Dr. Osama Nasim (Assistant Professor at National Textile University, Faisalabad) was also present at CED on 8th & 9th Dec, 2017. He conducted guest speaking sessions in Science & Technology Entrepreneurship Program and CIE class. After visiting incubation center, the joint session of NEP Hyderabad and CIE class was held at Alumni Students Center. Dr. Shahid Qureshi (Program Director CED) welcomed the delegation and briefed them about the activities of CED and progress of CIE. Furthermore, eight successful entrepreneurs shared their entrepreneurial journey i.e. challenges and benefits of pursuing entrepreneurship as a career. These entrepreneurs included Mr. Aftab Hussain (founder of United Dairy Feed), Omer Zaffar (founder of Subhai.com), Waqas Ajmeri (founder of Ajmeri.pk), Afshan Samad (founder of Washez), Najia Navaid (founder of Sribbles Stationery), Mohammad Nadeem & Team

(founders of Irtaash), Syed Abu Faisal (founder of BROOKSMUN HYDRONICS ENGINEERING (PVT) LTD) and Sajid Katiya (co-founder of Sacha s Cake). All these entrepreneurs were the graduates of AMAN CED s certificate in entrepreneurship program. The guest speaker session was followed by networking lunch. The event continued after lunch where each Hyderabad student presented his own business model, highlighting the progress they had made so far in launching their new business ventures. Later on, Dr. Shahid Qureshi concluded the session on behalf of Dr. Farrukh Iqbal (Dean & Director IBA) with a note of thanks to all the participants and guests.

12 th Dec, 2017: Hult Prize 2017 IBA AMAN Center for Entrepreneurial Development (CED), advances to Regional Finals of 8 th Annual Hult Prize in response to the United Nation s Challenge of Harnessing the Power of Energy. The Grand Finale of the first edition of Hult Prize at IBA (presented by Market Link Pvt. Ltd) was organized by IBA Entrepreneurship Society on 12th December 2017 at IBA Main Campus. Top 10 teams selected in the Semi-finals, presented business ideas to solve the challenge set by the United Nations: "Harnessing the Power of Energy to impact the lives of 10 million people." IBA AMAN Center for Entrepreneurial Development (CED), advances to Regional Finals of 8 th Annual Hult Prize in response to the United Nation s Challenge of Harnessing the Power of Energy. The Grand Finale of the first edition of Hult Prize at IBA (presented by Market Link Pvt. Ltd) was organized by IBA Entrepreneurship Society on 12th December 2017 at IBA Main Campus. The Chief Guest, Mr. Imran Jattala, National Director Hult Prize announced the Winning Team SOS a 4- member team of MBA students including Sidra Tariq, Salman Sajjad, Ayesha Hasan and Ahmed Saeed Khan. The Hult Prize at IBA Finals had the honour of having the most experienced judges. Joining the judges panel were Mr. Humayun Bashir, Former IBM Country General Manager and current Chairman National Clearing Company, Mr Saif Akhtar,Co-founder and CEO of 10Xc, Ms. Maha Abdullah, Senior Program Officer at WWF and Dr. Shahid Qureshi, Program Director CED The event was graced by the Dean and Director who appreciated the initiative and mentioned it as a turning point for entrepreneurship in Pakistan and in IBA. Over the course of the past month, the Hult Prize at IBA held numerous information, pitching and mentoring sessions for interested students and participants with the support of IBA IRC and IBA CED. They provided advice, training and tips to the participants so that they could start, form and subsequently deliver their ideas effectively. The winning team SOS will now move on to compete at the Hult Prize Regional Finals in March 2018 which are being hosted in 15 cities around the world. The team will be a part of the Legacy as the first team to represent IBA in the world s largest competition termed as The Nobel Prize for Students. Ahmad Ashkar, CEO and Founder of The Hult Prize attributes the success of the competition to the Global Youth revolution. He said, We continue to be moved by the large number of students from around the world who are capitalizing on the opportunity to develop business models that target those who are in most need. We wish every team the best of luck and thank Institute of Business Administration, (IBA) Karachi for supporting the initiative.

The Hult Prize is a wonderful example of the creative cooperation needed to build a world with shared opportunity, shared responsibility and shared prosperity, and each year I look forward to seeing the many outstanding ideas the competition produces -President Bill Clinton, 42 nd President of United States. IBA CED is thankful to IBA Entrepreneurship Society, IBA IRC and Hult Prize Team who have successfully executed Hult Prize at IBA. The Hult Prize team members include Mehreen Mansoor (Campus Director), Daim Ashraf, Hibbah Irfanullah, Abdul Rehman Ijaz, Sarmad Naeem & Shaharyar Mallick.

16th Dec, 2017: Buyon.pk (IBA CED incubatee) formed Pakistan E-Commerce Consortium (PEC) Ms. Anum Kamran, Co-founder of buyon.pk (IBA CED incubatee) created Pakistan E-Commerce Consortium (PEC) which is a platform to promote e-commerce in Pakistan. On Saturday 16 th December, 2017 Pakistan E- commerce Consortium (PEC) held its first ever meet-up at IBA AMAN Center for Entrepreneurial Development (CED). Along with many useful and supportive groups for techs. Anum Kamran, owner of Buyon.pk created a Facebook group called Pakistan E-commerce consortium (PEC) for E-commerce owners to support and promote online shopping in Pakistan. This session was attended by many local and few international E-Commerce pioneers, technology developers and few other women for discussion. Following entrepreneurs (who are running their e-commerce ventures successfully) are part of this consortium: Shayaan Tahir (CEO Homeshopping.pk), Abid Beli (Founder & CEO Beliscity and Delivery Walay), Saad Jangda (Founder & CEO Symbios.pk), Shehzad Rah(Director Paxi), Anum Kamran (Founder & CEO Buyon.pk), Kamran Shamim (CEO Apex Solutions), Faiza Yousuf (Chief Consultant @ OuttaBox, Founder @ #WomenInTechPK), NoorJehan Arif (Co-Founder Mushawar Consulting).

The panel discussion covered all of the major issues currently exist in E-commerce industry like unreliable logistics, frauds and non-availability of E-payment options. All the participants pledged to work together to groom the e-commerce industry of Pakistan. IBA NEP sessions on Innovation & Operations Management and Business Modeling Dr. Kamran Mumtaz and Dr. Imran Khan visited National Textile University Faisalabad on 15 th & 16 th Dec, 2017 and GIFT University Gujranwala on 22 nd & 23 rd Dec, 2017 to teach in IBA National Entrepreneurship Program (NEP). Dr. Kamran Mumtaz started the session on operations & innovation management and design thinking. In the second session, Dr. Imran Khan conducted the presentations of the business models of participants and gave them feedback to improve it further before launching their ventures.

15 th & 16 th Dec, 2017: IBA NEP Hyderabad, Final Presentations and Concluding session IBA NEP Hyderabad Batch-01 concluded at MUISTD, Mehran University, Jamshoro on 15 th & 16 th Dec, 2017. The last two sessions were conducted by Dr. Shahid Qureshi (Alternative Management), Mr. Yaseen Menai (Maths & Statistics for Entrepreneurs), Dr. Ashar Saleem (Entrepreneurial Strategy) and Mr. Rahat Aziz (Business Law). The sessions were also attended by Dr. S.M.Qureshi, Hon. Director, MUISTD and Dr. Arabella Bhutto, Co-Director, MUISTD. Moreover, the students of IBA NEP Hyderabad also delivered their Rocket Pitch Presentations to the panel of judges who guided them on starting/growing their businesses.

29 th & 30 th Dec, 2017: IBA NEP Faisalabad, Entrepreneurial Finance and Branding sessions The faculty of National Textile University Faisalabad conducted entrepreneurial finance and branding sessions in NEP Faisalabad on 29th & 30th Dec, 2017.

29th & 30th Dec, 2017: CIE session on Quality & Productivity Management conducted by Dr. Arif Rana (Professor from LUMS) Dr. Arif Rana visited AMAN CED, IBA Karachi to teach in Certificate in Entrepreneurship (CIE) class. Dr. Arif Rana is professor at LUMS and his area of expertise is quality and productivity management. He taught these concepts by using local case studies on 29 th & 30 th Dec, 2017 in CIE class of AMAN CED. Moreover, some group activities were also conducted during the course of two days. Science & Technology Entrepreneurship Program (STEP) After the successful inaugural of STEP, four sessions were held in Dec, 2017. Dr. Shahid Qureshi started the program by introducing basic frameworks of entrepreneurship, effectual entrepreneurship on 3 rd & 8 th Dec, 2017. Furthermore, he emphasis the importance of entrepreneurial mindset for pursuing entrepreneurial journey. Dr. Najam Anjum then taught technology entrepreneurship, creativity & innovation management, and business model generation on 23 rd & 29 th Dec, 2017. Dr. Kamran Mumtaz conducted the Design Thinking session on 30th Dec, 2017. The students were asked to perform a Refrigerator design thinking activity in the class. They made a chart in groups depicting problem statement, prioritize, characteristics, assumption, competitive analysis, experimentation and Journey mapping.
