Dissemination and Exploitation of Research and Innovation project results Horizon 2020 Coordinators' Day 22 February 2018 Ioannis Sagias CSC/J5
Dissemination & Exploitation (D&E) Dissemination: push Transfer of knowledge and results to the ones that can best make use of it in order to. Maximize the impact of research, enabling the effect of results to be potentially wider than the original focus. Exploitation: pull Make use of the results; recognising exploitable results and their stakeholders. Concretise the value and impact of the R&I activity for the society.
D&E in Horizon 2020 FP Increased importance given to Dissemination & Exploitation: Rules for Participation state clear obligations for beneficiaries: Proposal template highlights D&E plan as an admissibility condition and included in the Impact criterion evaluation. Grant agreement (GA) includes articles on D&E and, possibly, additional D&E obligations following the Work Programmes.

Strategy for an effective Dissemination and Exploitation of Horizon 2020 research results (D&E Strategy)
Key principles: Project beneficiaries are responsible of ensuring impact of project results by making: Best effort for exploiting the results or having them exploited by others Effective dissemination of results which are not protected EC provides guidance, support and common resources for D&E activities of beneficiaries EC makes effective use of the project results for feedback into policy making and dissemination and project and programme level
D&E Strategy intervention logic 1. Support beneficiaries in Dissemination and Exploitation Guidance on D&E for proposers and projects (Participant portal) Feedback and assessment of D&E during project reviews by experts and POs D&E support services and activities e.g. Common Exploitation/Dissemination Boosters 2. Provide efficient external access to project outputs Tools to search and access project data and results CORDIS dissemination activities Open Data Portal, OpenAire, Open Research data support 3. Facilitate use of project outputs for policy making Internal tools to effectively access all project data and results (CORDA, OSIRIS) Recognition and flagging of relevant results -- e.g. Innovation Radar Policy feedback mechanisms e.g. Projects for Policy(P4P) 4. Enhance EC internal culture and processes for D&E Results and D&E oriented processes -- WP drafting, evaluation, project monitoring Continuous D&E practices development and knowledge sharing collaboratively Training and guidance for project and policy officers on D&E
