Apply NOW for the STUDENT DESIGN & ENGINEERING AWARD 2015. Enter by 30 April 2015 (deadline for applications) and your innovative idea could take home our prize! Call for entries STUDENT DESIGN & ENGINEERING AWARD for Rapid Manufacturing Award Additive and rapid manufacturing processes are no longer in their infancy their unique features have already helped them to conquer the market and win over end users. Alongside the traditional engineering sectors such as the aerospace industry, Additive Manufacturing processes are now also being used in medical technology, gastronomy and the toy industry, lifting the limits on imagination and individuality. The STUDENT DESIGN & ENGINEERING AWARD for Rapid Manufacturing, now in its ninth year, will be awarded as part of the Rapid.Tech 2015 event. It offers creative minds the opportunity to take their innovative ideas from an on-screen design to a physical product. We collaborate with design experts, specialists from within the sector and renowned companies to produce a selection of high-quality submissions. This prize represents a unique opportunity to generate interest within the industry and make important contacts. Potential winners of the STUDENT DESIGN & ENGINEERING AWARD are students who focus on Additive Manufacturing processes while also taking advantage of the resulting opportunities to customize products using rapid manufacturing processes. These students provide an inspiration for this forward-looking technology. Organiser The organiser of the competition is Messe Erfurt GmbH, the host of the rapid technologies trade fair and user conference which enables specific technical expertise to be shared within the sector. The whole spectrum of these technologies, innovations and trends will be on display at the event from 10 to 11 June 2015. Alongside the practical trade fair, Rapid.Tech provides a forum for users, service providers, manufacturers and scientists. Entrants Students of any subject within the fields of design, architecture, construction, engineering and technology are invited to enter, as are young professionals who have graduated within the past 2 years. There are no restrictions on the entries. Anything can be submitted, from projects that have already been publicised to brand new ideas. The only condition is that the work must have started during the entrant s studies. The prize is aimed at those who are focused on Additive Manufacturing processes and the new perspectives they offer for design. Entrants should therefore consider the opportunities that rapid manufacturing processes offer with regard to the customisation of products as part of their submission. Group entries are also permitted. However, no more than three entries may be made per person. 2
