The 2017 ISPRS Workshop on Cryosphere and Hydrosphere for Global Change Studies (CHGCS 2017) Sept 20-21, 2017 Wuhan, Hubei, China In conjunction with the ISPRS Geospatial Week 2017 Website: http://celiang.tongji.edu.cn/chgcs2017/home.html First Circulation Earth s climate is changing, and multiple lines of evidence suggest significant warming in the cryosphere, the oceans and the atmosphere. The global surface temperature is increasing, the global sea level is rising, the ice is melting, and changes in the pattern of precipitation are bringing intense rainfall and floods to some areas and devastating droughts to others. Satellite remote sensing and associated airborne and in situ measurements have been crucial for advancing our understanding of the dynamics and impacts on global climate system. This international workshop aims to present the state-of-the-art advances in remote sensing research with cryospheric and hydrological applications. CHGCS 2017 provides an opportunity for all professionals involved in cryosphere and hydrosphere to share research ideas and results, foster and enhance cooperation, draw inspirations and maximize potentials. It will take place from Sep 20-21, 2017 in Wuhan, Hubei, China, organized by ISPRS WG III/9 Cryosphere and Hydrosphere. The event will be held in conjunction with the ISPRS Geospatial Week 2017 (website: http://gsw2017.3snews.net) from Sep18-22, 2017. Themes of the Workshop The themes of the event cover a wide range of remote sensing research and applications relevant to the cryosphere and hydrosphere, including, but not limited to the following aspects: glaciers and ice sheets sea ice in the Arctic and Antarctic mass balance river and lake ice seasonal snow cover albedo at high latitudes permafrost cryosphere-atmosphere interaction

himalayan cryosphere digital elevation models changing water cycle ocean, land and cryospheric interactions surface water and groundwater hydrology evapotranspiration droughts and floods coastal environments and sea-level rise soil moisture and precipitation water resource data assimilation to cryospheric and hydrological models retrieval of satellite cryospheric and hydrological parameters Submission of Papers High-quality extended abstracts and papers covering one or more of the above topics should be submitted electronically using the conference tool via the easychair website (https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=chgcs2017). Authors can submit full papers or extended abstracts for a peer review process. The submissions should be prepared according to the ISPRS guidelines for preparing manuscripts (http://www.isprs.org/documents/orangebook/app5.aspx) and should not exceed 8 pages. Accepted papers will appear as a Volume of the Archives (extended abstract submission) or a Volume of the Annals (full paper submission) of Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing and the Spatial Information Science.
