Language Proficiency -3 It is the responsibility of the home campus coordinator to ensure that their outgoing students are proficient in the language of instruction at the host campus. The host campus is under no obligation to honor a placement for a student who is not proficient in the language. (See NSE's Application Templates at nse.org for a "Language Proficiency Report" form which may be helpful in language proficiency assessment.) Students Whose First Language is Not English Students for whom English is not their first language who are selecting English-speaking campuses, should be interviewed and certified for proficiency in English at their home institutions by a faculty member or administrator for whom English is their primary language. Students Exchanging to Puerto Rico: Spanish Required At all member universities in Puerto Rico, students MUST be conversant in Spanish and able to receive instruction in Spanish. Students applying for these campuses should be interviewed and certified for competency in Spanish at their home institutions by a faculty member or administrator, preferably from Puerto Rico, for whom Spanish is their primary language. -4 Students Exchanging to Quebec: French Required Students planning to exchange to the campuses listed below MUST be conversant in French and able to receive instruction in French. Students applying for these campuses should be interviewed and certified for competency in French at their home institution by a faculty member or administrator for whom French is their primary language. The language of instruction at Bishop s is English; and the community is French-speaking.
