CONTENT The Grow Africa Investment Forum is the premier annual gathering of partners, investors and stakeholders in the Grow Africa network. The event will convene over 350 leaders of business, government, civil society, international organisations, farmer associations and other to advance progress on specific agriculture investment projects and partnerships in the 12 Grow Africa countries. The Investment Forum will take place from 2-4 June and feed into the 2015 World Economic Forum on Africa, taking place 3-5 June in Cape Town, South Africa in the Cape Town International Conference Centre (CTICC). 1
BEFORE YOU DEPART FACTS ABOUT CAPE TOWN Cape Town is on the South-Western tip of Africa, where the Atlantic and Indian oceans meet. The city lies in the Western Province of South Africa, the fourth largest province of nine. The metropolitan area covers almost 2,445 square kilometres and boasts a population of more than 3.7 million. LANGUAGE There are 11 official languages in South Africa the most common are English, Afrikaans and Xhosa. South Africa is 2 hours ahead of GMT/UTC. BUSINESS HOURS Banks: Opening hours vary but are generally from 09.00 to 15.30 on weekdays. On Saturdays, banks open at 09.00 and close at 11.00. Shops: Most shops are open between 08.00 and 17.00. Shops in some major malls may open at 09.00 and close at 21.00 or later. CURRENCY AND TIPPING ELECTRICITY South African rand (ZAR) 220/230 volts and 50 hertz Exchange rate as of 20 February 2015 1 euro = 13.23 ZAR 1 US$ = 11.61 ZAR Tipping is customary in South Africa. Generally, porters are tipped 5 ZAR per item, taxis 10% and waiters in restaurants 10-15%. VISA Check that you have a valid passport and whether a visa is required. For information, contact your closest South African consulate or embassy. You may also consult the following website, which lists the countries that require a visa to enter South Africa: www.dha.gov.za. If necessary, your confirmation letter for the meeting serves as the required official invitation. VACCINATION You must get a yellow fever vaccination if you are coming from or travelling through a yellow fever area before you enter South Africa. There is no yellow fever in South Africa. The vaccination is to prevent the virus from entering the country. SPECIAL AIRLINE TICKETS Participants should make their own arrangements for travel to South Africa. We do not have an official carrier for the meeting. 2

After collecting your luggage at Cape Town International Airport (http://www.airports.co.za), go to the World Economic Forum welcome desk in the arrivals area, where you will be assisted with your transfer to the hotels. AIRPORT TRANSFERS A transport service for participants is organized from Cape Town International Airport to the official hotels (The Westin Cape Town, Southern Sun Cape Sun Hotel, Southern Sun The Cullinan Hotel, The One&Only Cape Town, Southern Sun Waterfront Cape Town). The approximate journey time from the airport is 60 minutes, but could be longer during peak hours. Please note that you must wear your badge to access the transport. 3
DEPARTURE A shuttle bus will run from the official hotels to Cape Town International Airport on the hour every hour. Please reserve your return shuttle bus transfer in advance by completing the booking form given to you on arrival and returning it to Registration or the information desk in the CTICC or at the Grow Africa Investment Forum Info desk. Thursday 4 June Friday 5 June 15.00 17.00 12.00 20.00 For international flights, plan to leave your hotel three hours before your flight departure time. For domestic flights, allow two hours before your flight departure time. On the day of your departure, please leave your luggage at the hotel and pick it up on your way to the airport. Do not bring any luggage to the CTICC. The meeting observes a free-seating policy throughout and no sign-up required. however, we do encourage our participants to contribute their opinions and topics of discussion into the programme and encourage in engaging prior to the meeting through the following contributions: Value Chain Project Incubator: Tuesday 2 Thursday 4 June Use to value chain project incubator to capitalize on the expertise of 350 agribusiness experts to: - Progress existing value chain projects - Incubate new ventures - Find new project partners - Source expertise, learn from and share best practice The value chain project incubator is a series of dedicated sessions over the three days of the Grow Africa Investment Forum aimed at enabling participants to accelerate projects underway within specific crop value chains and launch new initiatives. Incubator sessions culminate in time spent developing concrete action plans Investment Marketplace: Wedesday 3 June 14:00-16:00 Discover and promote new investment opportunities and find new project partners! The Investment Marketplace offers one of the best opportunities on the continent to reach a targeted audience of private- and public-sector decision-makers to promote new investment opportunities and find new project partners. A range of financial institutions - from providers of grant finance to equity investments to debt finance - are in attendance.
