The Emeritus Class Hampton University s Emeritus Class continues an impressive legacy of leadership through giving. Their love, loyalty and commitment are showcased annually during Reunion Weekend when the Emeritus Class gift is presented to our beloved alma mater. Led by Dr. Gladys Hope Franklin White, their annual class gift is the cornerstone of alumni giving efforts and provides steady funding for the University. We celebrate the Emeritus Class for leading the charge, and we appreciate their passion for Hampton and their commitment to the University s sustainability. 10 2018 HAMPTON UNIVERSITY REUNION
Giving TO HAMPTON The Alumni Campaign for Hampton: Hampton continues to dream no small dreams and has launched an exciting comprehensive campaign to raise $150 Million by Hampton s 150th anniversary in 2018. As a part of this bold move, Hampton alumni have been asked to raise $15 Million to provide critical support for student scholarships. This campaign gives alumni the opportunity to help secure the legacy one student at a time. Your Reunion Class Gift: As you celebrate your reunion year, giving a gift to your alma mater signifies your commitment to the sustainability of Hampton and strengthens your class legacy. The following information may help you decide how to support the University during this special anniversary year. All gifts, pledges, planned gifts and corporate matching gifts will count towards the Alumni Campaign for Hampton. Each class has an established giving goal for its reunion gift, both percent participation and total dollars raised, and often sets out to achieve new University records. Unrestricted gifts are especially important because they provide immediate support for University priorities. Restricted gifts to interests, such as the Divine Nine Greek Plaza, will count toward your Reunion Class Gift. All gifts, pledges, planned gifts and corporate matching gifts received between July 1, 2017 and May 12, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. will be reported during the Class Gift presentation at the Reunion Celebration Dinner. All gifts, pledges, planned gifts and corporate matching gifts received between July 1, 2017 and June 30, 2018 will be reported in your annual class giving totals. ALL GIFTS SHOULD BE PAYABLE TO HAMPTON UNIVERSITY. A Proud Hamptonian is a Giving Hamptonian! NEW Traditions KEEP HAMPTON STRONG A cultural shift in our alumni giving tradition is underway at Hampton University. Since the establishment of Reunion Class Giving goals, the majority of Hamptonians are in the habit of giving every five years. While we value the tradition, competition and excitement of Reunion Class Giving, this practice adversely affects our annual alumni giving participation rate since each reunion cohort (10 classes) is inclined to give only during their respective giving years. Our participation rate in giving ranks us behind schools such as Claflin, Spelman and Morehouse. Further and most importantly our alumni giving rate is an indicator to prospective donors and students of how alumni feel about the Hampton experience, and is critical to the value of your degree and the reputation of our beloved University. In order to fully realize the power of true annual giving (50 classes) we are asking all alumni to make annual giving to Hampton a new tradition. By giving a gift each year and stretching during your reunion years, you will help significantly increase our annual participation rate. Decide to develop the habit of giving annual gifts to Hampton and continue the tradition, competition and excitement of Reunion Class Giving. Your annual support truly keeps Hampton strong. NEW REUNION AWARD All classes are eligible to receive the Annual Fund Award. The Annual Fund Award recognizes the class with the most annual donors by percent during non-reunion years. The class that has the most annual donors will be recognized at the Reunion Celebration Dinner and will have their class name engraved on a plaque prominently displayed in the Alumni House. NEW REUNION CLASS GIVING REPORTS AND RECOGNITION In an effort to highlight the importance of annual giving, reunion reporting will be expanded to recognize and showcase class giving in three ways: Annual Class Giving Totals All gifts received by Hampton during non-reunion years and listed by FY14, FY15, FY16 and FY17. Reunion Class Gift Total All gifts received by Hampton in FY18 (from July 1, 2017 - May 12, 2018) by 5 p.m. will be included in the check presentation at the Reunion Celebration Dinner. Five-Year Giving Total A grand total of Annual Class Giving and the Reunion Class Gift. 12 2018 HAMPTON UNIVERSITY REUNION
