In his welcoming remarks, Ar. Alan F. Filio, Chapter President, humbly thanked the guests especially from the FAB, and the Members in attendance for their support to the annual event as well as all the past activities for 2017. The YEP was indeed a fitting end to what had been a very busy and productive year and the chapter looks forward to a more exciting 2018 despite the challenges ahead. Each committee including the Executive Board have been tasked to prepare a group performance befitting the Yuletide Season. The Committee on Internal Affairs and Committee on External Affairs each presented a very creative and entertaining Dance number while the Committee on Professional Practice and the Executive Board regaled the audience with a spirited rendition of favorite Filipino Christmas carols. Aside from the presentation, all committees and the EB also prepared fun games to the delight of everyone. The first to fourth place winners received their Certificate of Award from Ar. Christian Lester R. Serrano, Director for Committee on External Affairs while the 5th to 7th place were given special mention during the event. Hernando J. Hautea Jr., Chapter VP for Programs & Development. The Filipino Association Brunei was represented by three of its current officers namely: Ms. May Abrera, Mr. Joseph Sacris, and Mr. Clifford Baluarte. It was indeed a good effort by the Committee on Internal Affairs headed by Ar. Eric S.J. De Castro in making the event successful. Kudos also to the two lovely and energetic hosts for the night, Ar s. Reynaldo M. Ramos and Iris Rachel P. Pabilonia-Benig. The event was held at the recently opened 3rd-floor Function Room, WAFA Hotel, Annajat Shopping Complex, Jalan Gadong, Kg. Beribi, BSB, Brunei on 09 December 2017.

FILIO MONTH OF CONTACT NUMBERS +673 8875700 DATE EMAIL ADDRESS uapbrunei@gmail.com SUBMITTED DECEMBER 16 DECEMBER 2017 CHAPTER ACTIVITIES UNDERTAKEN DURING THE MONTH Indicate your chapter activities undertaken during the month such as Chapter GMM, Professional Development Seminars, Corporate Social Responsibility Initiatives, ACTIVITY NO. 16 Title of Activity UAP BN Participates in the Recycled Parol Contest Date 15 DECEMBER 2017 Total Attendees 5 Members Venue Philippine Embassy, BSB Objective of the Activity Participation to the Philippine Embassy Type of Activity GMM Seminar / Socio-Civic Activity in line with 4Ps Activity in support of the UAP corporate thrust / Profession Professional Professional Organization Professional Product / Unity Accountability Professional Excellence Articles, Caption, Details and Photos: The UAP Brunei Chapter attended the Araw ng Pasasalamat : Paskong Pinoy sa Pasuguan" held on 15 December 2017 at the Philippine Embassy compound Simpang 336, Diplomatic Enclave, Jalan Kebangsaan, Bandar Seri Begawan, Negara Brunei Darussalam, upon the kind invitation of the Philippine Chancery Brunei Darussalam. Prior to the start of the program, The Philippine Embassy made a few quick announcements pertaining to OFW ID issuance and some important reminders including concerns on Extension of Visa. The Embassy requested all participating organizations to inform its Members about the matter. During the Paskong Pinoy sa Pasuguan, there was a Caroling contest among the various Filipino Organizations and the winners for the Recycled Parol Contest were announced and awarded. The contest was open to all Filipino Community organizations registered with the Embassy. The Parol shall be made primarily of recycled materials and should exhibit Filipino Artistry and ingenuity. It has to be prominent in terms of size as it will be displayed at the Chancery throughout the yuletide season. The following were the criteria for judging: Originality 30%, Aesthetics 30% and Recycled Materials 40%. There were nine (9) entries for the Parol contest submitted by the following organizations: Guardians International Brunei (GIBFI), Filipino Association Brunei (FAB), Philippine Nurses Association Brunei Chapter (PNA-BC), Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE B), BIGBI, Pinoy Bowling Club (PBC), TGBI-TO, Overseas Filipino Workers Global Movement for Empowerment (OFWGME) and of course the United Architects of the Philippines Brunei Chapter (UAP BN). The BIGBI entry was adjudged the Grand prize winner for this year's Parol contest while the Caroling contest was won by the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE B). Members representing the Chapter were Yolito I. Amante, Nina L. Torregosa, Kelly L. Tajonera, Allan B. David and Romeo J. Nabong II. The Chapter went home with a consolation award for the Recycled Parol Contest, receiving a Certificate of Appreciation and some gift items from His Excellency Ambassador Meynardo LB Montealegre, the Philippine Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam. The program has started at 6:00 PM and ended at around 9:15 P.M.

The FA organized the event to show its gratitude to the different Filipino organizations under its umbrella for the unwavering support and cooperation they have demonstrated towards the success of its activities like the Family Day, Inter-Organizational Basketball Tournament and the Marawi Donation drive, just to name a few. Present during the event were Ar. Alan F. Filio, Chapter President, Ar. Hernando J. Hautea Jr., Chapter VP for Programs & Development, Ar. Romeo J. Nabong II, Chapter Secretary, Ar. Lilian A. Tampoc-Pena, Chapter Treasurer, and Ar. Orville J. Dulce, Deputy Director for Committee on Internal Affairs who was one of the lucky draw winners bagging a gift certificate courtesy of the Institute of the Integrated Electrical Engineers of the Philippines (IIEE). The guest of honor and speaker of the event was His Excellency Ambassador Meynardo LB Montealegre, the Philippine Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam. Accompanying His Excellency were Consul Melvin Almonguera and Vice Consul Jaybee Arguillas. The event was held at the 3rd Floor Function Room, WAFA Hotel, Annajat Complex, Jalan Gadong, Kg. Beribi, Brunei Darussalam last 16 December 2017. The program commenced at 8:00 PM and ended around 11:10 PM.
