Key Action 1 - Mobility of Individuals: Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degrees (EMJMD) An EMJMD is a high-level integrated international study programme of 60, 90 or 120 ECTS delivered by an international consortium of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) from different countries (and where relevant other educational and/or non-educational partners with specific expertise and interest in the study areas/professional domains covered by the joint programme. Management costs: o 20 000 EUR for the preparatory year o 50 000 EUR per intake Between 13 and 20 student scholarships and at least 4 invited scholars/guest lecturers per intake 1 preparatory year 3 consecutive intakes of 1 to 2 academic years (60/90/120 ECTS) Eligibility o A participating organization can be any public or private organization established in a Programme or Partner Country. o An EMJMD involves full partners HEIs from at least 3 different Programme Countries. Key Action 2 - Cooperation for Innovation and the Exchange of Good Practices: Strategic Partnerships Strategic Partnerships aim to support: o the development, transfer and/or implementation of innovative practices o the implementation of joint initiatives promoting cooperation, peer learning and exchanges of experience To be funded, Strategic Partnerships must address either a) at least one horizontal priority or b) at least one specific priority relevant to the field of education Horizontal priorities o developing basic and transversal skills (entrepreneurship, digital skills, language competences) o enhancing digital integration in learning, teaching, training at various levels (supporting ICT-based teaching, OER, ) o contributing to the development of a European Area of Skills and Qualifications (promoting coherence between transparency and recognition tools, promoting the use of learning outcomes in the design, delivery and assessment of curricula) o supporting innovative projects aimed to reduce disparities in learning outcomes affecting learners from disadvantaged backgrounds/with fewer opportunities o developing new approaches to strengthen the education and training paths of prospective and practicing educators/youth workers o stimulating the development and use of innovative approaches and tools to assess and increase the efficiency of public expenditure and investment in education and training Field-specific priorities o supporting HEIs to implement the necessary reforms in line with the 2011 EU Modernization Agenda and its priority areas, e.g. projects that - support activities that help attune curricula to labour market needs and equip the young generation with transversal skills such as entrepreneurship - support activities to develop innovative strategies to boost mobility - strengthen the links between education, research and business - aim at increasing the number of graduates, widening the participation, enhancing lifelong learning o supporting the implementation of the 2013 Communication on Opening Up Education (promoting the development of a greater variety of study modes (distance, part-time, modular learning) and stimulating the internationalization of Europe s higher education systems.

Key Action 2 - Cooperation for Innovation and the Exchange of Good Practices: Capacity Building in the field of Higher Education Capacity Building projects aim to support the modernization, accessibility and internationalization of higher education in the Partner Countries. Two categories of Capacity Building Projects are supported: o joint projects (aimed at producing outcomes that benefit principally and directly the organizations from eligible Partner Countries involved in the project) which focus on 3 different types of activities: - curriculum development - modernization of governance, management and functioning of HEIs - strengthening of relations between HEIs and the wider economic and social environment o structural projects (aimed at producing an impact on higher education systems and promoting reforms at regional/national level in the eligible Partner Countries) which focus on 2 different types of activities: - modernization of policies, governance and management of higher education systems - strengthening of relations between higher education systems and the wider economic and social environment A Special Mobility Strand for staff and students is available for certain regions (more information in programme guide p. 146-147) Between 500 000 EUR and 1 000 000 EUR 2 or 3 years Eligibility o Eligible Partner Countries belonging to the following regions (more information in programme guide p. 25 and 148): - Western Balkans - Eastern Partnership countries - South-Mediterranean countries - Asia - Central Asia - Latin America - Iran, Iraq, Yemen, - South Africa o A participating organization can be any public or private organization offering higher education degrees or active in the labour market or in the field of education, training and youth.
