PRIDE OF DURANT UPDATED ST. LOUIS ITINERARY September 11, 2017 DAY 1 Friday, 16 March 2018 EARLY-Depart for St. Louis, Missouri. Visit the Bonne Terre Mine. It is the worlds largest subterranean lake! A guided tour by boat, of the Billion Gallon Lake with its crystal clear water, and spectacular view of the largest parts of the mine. See the No. 1 Elevator, Submerged Ore Carts, Wrapped Pillars, and Ancient Abandoned Overhead Wooden Cat Walks suspended 50-100 feet above the lake. *You will have a box meal for lunch when you are not touring Arrive at your hotel to check in. Depart for the evening. *This evening, dinner will be at St. Louis' Incredible Pizza Company. A buffet dinner and game card Is included (paid for) DAY 2 Saturday, 17 March 2018 *This morning you will enjoy breakfast at the hotel (paid for) Depart for the St. Patrick's Day Parade location. Arrive at the parade location. The Durant High School Band will perform in the St. Patrick's Day Parade in St. Louis. Return to your hotel to quickly change for the day. Depart for the St. Louis Zoo. Visit the St. Louis Zoo which is known as being a leading zoo in animal research, conservation and education. Explore the many areas of the zoo such as the River's Edge, Discovery Corner, Historic Hill and Red Rocks and see an incredible variety of animals, reptiles, insects and so forth. *Lunch at the zoo (not paid for). Depart for Union Station where you will have some free time. View the Grand Hall Light Show at Union Station. The Grand Hall, with its sweeping archways, fresco and gold leaf detailing, mosaics and art glass windows, is the crown jewel of Union Station. Renovated and restored in 2014, the Grand Hall now features an award winning 3D mapping immersive light show, brought to life on its majestic ceiling. This first-of itskind high definition projection mapping experience in the United States is projected on the Grand Hall's 65-foot tall ceilings and across the entire space. *This evening, you will have dinner at the Hard Rock Café (paid for) DAY 3 Sunday, 18 March 2018 This morning you will enjoy breakfast at the hotel (paid for) Depart for the day. Ride to the top of the 630-foot tall Gateway Arch. When you get to the top, watch In Monument to the Dream, watch the construction of the iconic Gateway Arch, from the start through the placement of its last exterior piece in 1965. At the top you can see up to 30 miles in every direction on a clear day. Looking west, discover a breathtaking view of downtown St. Louis, including the Old Courthouse, Busch Stadium, Ballpark Village, and the Edward Jones Dome. Looking east, observe the mighty Mississippi River and Illinois, as well as five unique bridges and a historical train trestle connecting Illinois to Missouri. NOTE: The Museum of Westward Expansion is closed for renovation. A small collection is available to view at the Old Courthouse. *Lunch (not paid for) Visit the Old St. Louis County Courthouse, which was built as a combination federal and state courthouse.
Visit the St. Louis Cardinals Hall of Fame Museum. Few franchises have the acclaim and heritage of the St. Louis Cardinals, and that history lives here, in the Cardinals Museum. Featuring stadiums, players and championship moments, the Cardinals Museum boasts one of the largest team-specific collections of artifacts and memorabilia in the world. Explore the St. Louis Science Center which has over 750 exhibits spread over 300,000 square feet. The center was founded in 1963 as a planetarium and eventually grew into the museum we know today. The trip will take place Friday, March 16 th - Monday, March 19 th, 2018. Student Cost for the trip will be $500.00. Payments are due as follows: September 15 th -$125(fireworks should cover most of this one), October 16 th -$125, November 15 th -$125, December 14 th -$125.00 (we will be fund-raising to help with the cost of the trip but the ultimate responsibility will be the students and their families).
