Program Overview & Target Audience Current Advances in Heart & Vascular Care 2018 will provide the most current, evidence-based strategies for managing cardiovascular disease. The goal is to increase the knowledge of the interprofessional and multidisciplinary learners by providing them with the ability to provide high quality, cost effective care that will lead to superior patient outcomes. This activity has been designed for primary care physicians, interventional cardiologists, clinical cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, vascular surgeons, hospitalists, emergency medicine specialists, interventional radiologists, nurses, physician assistants, technologists and other members of the health care team who want to enhance their knowledge of current advances in the management of patients with heart and vascular disease. Course Objectives: Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to: Describe the most current eligibility requirements used in identifying patients eligible for percutaneous valvular procedures Apply evidenced-based medicine to incorporate current guidelines for treatment of heart failure patients with the goal of decreasing patient readmissions Identify the role of specific antiplatelets and anticoagulants in treatment of cardiovascular disease List 2 or more cardiac disorders associated with the opioid addiction crisis Describe new diagnostic techniques, medications and procedures utilized by the interdisciplinary care team in the care of the patient with cardiovascular disease Describe the cardiovascular risk of the cancer survivor following the administration of checkpoint inhibitors Apply evidenced-based knowledge used by the interdisciplinary care team in the treatment of women and heart disease Review and implement methods of best practice by the interdisciplinary team in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular patients Hosting Department and Organization Current Advances in Cardiovascular Care 2018 is hosted by the Department of Cardiovascular Services at Chester County Hospital. Accreditation and Credit Designation In support of improving patient care, Penn Medicine is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team. Designation of Credit Physicians: Penn Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 6.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. Nurses: This activity is approved for 6.25 contact hours. Physician Assistants: AAPA accepts certificates of participation for educational activities certified for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit from organizations accredited by ACCME or a recognized state medical society. PAs may receive a maximum of 6.25 Category 1 credits for completing this activity. Certificates and Transcripts: After the conference has concluded, all participants will receive a follow-up email with instructions and a link. Once participants submit the request for credit, the earned credits will be available for viewing on a transcript and certificates will be available for printing at www.penncmeonline.com. Please note that the individual certificate will not be mailed. 701 East Marshall Street, Registration Fees The registration fees for the Current Advances in Cardiovascular Care 2018 are the following: $99 for Physicians or Industry Representatives, $79 for Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners and Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists. $59 for Nurses and Healthcare Professionals. The registration fee is $49 for Chester County Hospital and Penn Medicine employees, faculty and staff with a valid or Penn Medicine ID. The registration fee includes attendance to the conference, a course booklet, a link to view the presentations online, continental breakfast, mid-morning and afternoon breaks as well as lunch. Cancellation and Refund Policy In order to process refunds for course withdrawals, cancellations must be received in writing by February 13, 2018 and are subject to a $15.00 service charge. No refunds will be issued thereafter. The University reserves the right to cancel or postpone this course due to unforeseen circumstances. In the event of a cancellation or postponement, the University will refund registration fees but is not responsible for related costs or expenses to participants, including cancellation fees assessed by hotels, airlines, and travel agencies.
