Recruitment initiatives undertaken by WNIN during this period: #1 WNIN participated in a job fair at the University of Evansville on February 28, 2017. A number of students stopped to speak with our recruiter, our VP of Finance and Administration, about internships and employment opportunities, a number of whom were women and minorities. We are working to line up internships with students who stopped by. WNIN offers internships in radio, TV, community engagement / communications, events, and engineering with students from all area universities. A former student intern from the university is now a full-time WNIN staff member.

#1 WNIN participated in 2 job fairs at the University of Southern Indiana on September 21, 2016 and February 22, 2017. Many students stopped with our recruiter at each fair, our Vice President of Finance and Administration, about internships and current fulltime and part-time job openings. We hired several interns from these fairs. #1 WNIN will participate in a job fair at Ivy Tech on April 5, 2017, recruiting for parttime and full-time job openings, internships, and event volunteers. In 2017 Ivy Tech is holding 3 different career fairs each targeted to specific majors and areas of interest. This upcoming fair is geared to technology students. #1 WNIN participated in a job fair at Harrison College on October 13, 2016. We recruited for current job openings and internships; the college also emphasized general employer networking by students to gain experience. #1 WNIN participated in a job fair at the Southern Indiana Career and Technical Center on November 2, 2016. This was geared towards Junior and Senior high school students who were looking for jobs and internships in specific fields including broadcasting. The manager of the student radio station at the center is a former WNIN employee. Last year several students from the school volunteered at WNIN to gain experience. #4 WNIN participated in an activity sponsored by a community group to inform others about employment opportunities in broadcasting. We hosted 5 eighth grade students from Holy Rosary Catholic School on October 21, 2016 as part of the National Job Shadow program sponsored by Junior Achievement. This provided the students an opportunity to work with WNIN content and production staff in both TV and Radio, where the students produced a short spot for air. #4 WNIN participated in a College and Career Fair at Central High School for high school seniors on October 19, 2016 to provide them with information about types of career opportunities in broadcasting, and the education and training requirements for these jobs. #4 WNIN participated in the Career Exploration Day sponsored by Southwest Indiana College Access Network (SICAN) and Junior Achievement on September 28, 2016. We spoke with 8 th 12 th grade students from many area middle and high schools about types of careers available in public broadcasting, and the expected education needed for these careers. #5 Establishment of an internship program. WNIN s internship program continues to successfully work with 10-15 students per year from all area colleges and universities including the University of Southern Indiana, University of Evansville, Ivy Tech, Indiana University, and others in the area. These internships spanned all semesters, spring, summer and fall, and our interns were all part of their universities formal internship programs, working at least 150 hours and receiving college credit for the internships. Student interns worked at WNIN in TV, station events (Auction, Kid s Fest, and other station events), communications, and radio (news/reporting, and Summer of Music

production). We are currently recruiting students for internships in the summer and fall of 2017 after the recent round of spring job fairs in all these areas, and hope to hire several shortly. We have also been approved for a grant from the Lilly Foundation for 2 internship positions for the summer 2017. #8 WNIN participates in ongoing job training. Many employees attend local seminars and training opportunities to develop and enhance their skills and job performance, including skills to perform other jobs of interest. These included local seminars on employee benefit and human resource topics, and a one-day Plan Sponsor University for retirement plan administrators. WNIN s CEO and Vice President of Development are participating in Leadership Evansville, a leadership development program. We conducted Disc Leadership training for all staff (full-time and part-time) on July 7, 2016 and Strengths Finders training on July 8, 2016 for all full-time staff. These trainings allowed staff to learn more about their own personal strengths, as well as how to work with others who possess similar or different strengths from their own; staff also gained awareness of what co-workers individual strengths were to help all work better together. WNIN participated in an exchange program through IREX with a TV station in Ukraine, TV Avers. Two different groups of 3 Ukrainian station staff, with interpreters spent a week in Evansville working with WNIN staff and several commercial TV stations (WNIN hosted the visitors). A group of 3 WNIN staff (production and journalists), with interpreters spent a week at TV Avers in the Ukraine working with their staff creating a valuable training opportunity for all involved. WNIN was awarded a national grant for 2017 to develop a new podcast series, including national level training for 2 WNIN staff on podcast development (currently in progress). #10 On March 20, 2017 WNIN hosted a group of 7 high school students from Evansville Day School, as part of the school s week-long Intersession program. The program organizes students by areas of interest, and the students visit a number of organizations related to their area of interest to learn more about careers in the field, and participate in hands on activities. The group we hosted were interested in broadcast, production and media careers. WNIN has a website to promote all aspects of our operations. All job openings and announcements are posted on our website.
